Great idea and Execution. As long as it works and keeps the bugs out while keeping your camper cool that is all that matters. Great video.

Thanks Quady, this is exactly what I was looking for. Looks like we have the same toppers, I have that same window handle (found another stick-on handle on amazon for glass doors). I realized on a recent camping trip I need to be able to keep that front window open without bugs getting in. I will try this on mine.

It works great and stays open all the time, I can leave it open in the rain and nothing gets in 👍

I had the exact same idea..which is what brought me to this video..quite literally. I bought "mosquito netting " on amazing and some velcro. Taped the netting and stuck the velcro on the tape. Didn't work. The heat made it fall down...I like the screen down material better. But there has to be a removable option better than stick/velcro!

Also with a U.S. ECW (Extremer Cold Weather) MSS (Military Sleep System) you will be comfortable without a heater under the topper of your truck when it is freezing outside. I have slept in the back of my truck (it has a Bed Rug Bed Liner), under the topper here in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains in 17 degrees, and I was warm as toast. I was waiting in line with dozzens of people in the parking lot for the Grand Opening of the local 511 store in Knoxville Tn. I had one of the Big Buddy heaters. I wanted to see if I needed to leave it on. So I shut it off and I did not wake up until the morning before they opened. I have not done the Reflectx covers to the rear windows yet. FYI, I am also getting ready to have the Security Tint Film done to the rear and side windows of the cab of my truck. I may also do the inside windows of the topper. I may get it layered so I can get 2 layers of 8 Mil film (I was told you can't go stronger than 8 mil on vehicle windows because of the slight curves in the glass). It will never be bullet proof, but it will be just as good as the front windshield and be able to take several hits of a baseball bat or hammer and still prevent injuty to the truck occupants, before I need to risk driving off with people in the way.

Hey bro how did you do your curtains rods in your truck?
@337--LEE

That'll work..The real test is when its 110 degrees to test the velcro staying on the frame ...... Great idea .....

What size spline did you use for the side windows? Trying to get screen into my leer canopy on the side windows and unsure of sizing

Does the velcro glue melt in the heat? I'm wondering if the screen falls off in the summer.

Love your videos man! Pretty sure I have the exact same truck as you, what’s the make/ model of that camper shell?
@CrazyQuady
@CrazyQuady 4 года назад
Thanks! It's a leer topper, not sure on the model but it's a mid rise, just slightly taller than the cab of the truck
@norpino7704
@norpino7704 4 года назад
Aye I have the same model Chevy as you do and I was wondering what kind of work you’ve done to it like the your size of lift, tires you run and what kind of gas mileage you get with your set up? This is the kind of clean set up I’ve been trying to find but not a lot of people have this generation of truck that goes camping in it.
@CrazyQuady
@CrazyQuady 4 года назад
Thanks! It's a 5 inch Rough Country lift and a 1.5 inch body lift. The tires are 295/70r18. My mileage is going to be different that what you would see since the truck has a big cam in it but its about 15 average with 3.73 gears, this truck also only has the 4 speed trans.

Great idea. The only thing I might have done differently is to use some Gorilla glue, or similar, on the sticky side of the Velcro that attaches to the window frame. Do you think that would help or not? Thanks.
@CrazyQuady
@CrazyQuady 4 года назад
I thought about using some different types of adhesives but the tape is holding strong g so far! I'll make sure you let the channel know if it doesnt continue to work.

Hi Crazy. Why dont you just put the Velcro hook side to the screen so it attaches to the topper cloth just outside the window frame. Then you will not need the loop side on the window frame.
@CrazyQuady
@CrazyQuady 3 года назад
I used velcro lights in the topper on one trip and it separated some of the headliner material from the shell so I don't stick anything to it like that anymore.

I wish someone would make a small air conditioner that would fit in there.

No kidding! That would make this kind of setup much nicer

The reason you were getting bugs through that window was that they were mistaking that big N on your rear window for a fresh cow pile! So, since they were already there they came on in! Haha!!!! I’m going to make one for my rear window too. I’ve got the same sliding window, with the handle on the outside. I got a command strip hook and stuck it on the inside. Makes opening that window easier.
