This seems like a great idea to cover my popcorn ceiling! Can these be installed over a popcorn ceiling. I heard it mentioned a couple of times that this was not a popcorn ceiling. Great job! Looks nice, budget friendly.

Yes this was a popcorn ceiling , that's reason to do it

Awesome videos, great work. I had someone yell at me that you can't put those types of tiles onto drywall and you saved me with this video. Thanks!

Hi! I know you posted this awhile back so hopefully you see this question. I’m renting an apartment and want to apply over my popcorn ceiling, do you know if I remove these before i move out will there be damage to the ceiling?
@jusview9429
@jusview9429 3 года назад
@@Pr3ttyLindsay of course there will be damage unless you cover up the ceiling before you apply

Great work my friend. I would like to ask you about painting this kind of ceiling do you use plastic paint any primer first?
@InvestorTheory
@InvestorTheory 2 года назад
No need for primer. I did paint another ceiling after caulking the seams. But if possible use a sprayer easier and u won't risk denting the tiles
@dsjoffice

Great video! Thank you Have you done a ceiling with doorway transition? Regarding the pattern transition or do you start over? TIA
@InvestorTheory
@InvestorTheory Год назад
Thank you. The transition is your personal taste but yes. Did a living room then large separation arch and dining room . Each started from center out.

Love the idea! I know i’m kinda late to the party but i have a super specific project in mind: I’m going to be decorating above my loft bed a fake “ceiling” that’s foam and has fake wooden beams made also out of foam. I can’t drill into my cieling (I don’t have the knowledge and even though I don’t live in a rental I wouldn’t prefer to) so I’m gonna try this method. Would a silicone sealant suffice? And rather than using the polyether foam in the video, i’ll just be using 1 inch insulation (not sure if its the same) foam since it’s cheaper to buy in large amounts, is that okay or are there any hazards?
@InvestorTheory
@InvestorTheory 2 года назад
Fake wood beams I've also been thinking of doing in a kitchen. What kind of foam are you using. For glue I'd recommend pl 8x fast grab . Silicone or caulk is more of a finish
@mystikimchi6016
@mystikimchi6016 2 года назад
@@InvestorTheory I bought an insulation foam board from Home Depot. It’s like a sheathing foam I believe

What type of paint works for those tiles?
@InvestorTheory

Any latex paint. But easier to use paint sprayer

i measure terrible so find the middle and start from there? i'm doing a bathroom only have one corner to do over the tub and the closet is the corner part otherwise its one piece I can't start in the corner and work my way back? I have a light in the middle of the ceiling and a air conditioning vent I did this before with a similar tile my small powder room was the straight all the way easy
@InvestorTheory
@InvestorTheory 4 года назад
Hi there. If it's a small space like a bathroom, I would say start from the the farthest point you see when you walk into the washroom. Visually you want a full tile starting there and coming towards you. So I would say do that row first, no need to start from the center. When you are doing a large room, then yes, you start from the center because it's a lot more space to cover and ods are the rooms won't be perfectly straight. I wouldn't recommend placing these in a closet if you will be touching the ceilings (if you have storage boxes up top) these will dent very easily. For the washroom, you may want to do a coat of paint otherwise some of the steam will sit on the tiles (not a big deal) but it may drip on the floor. So I would say seal it, in the washrooms I've used PVC tiles with similar design, look in the description i may have left a link to it. Little more expensive but they are 100% waterproof and resistant.
@robertadams1960

Or what if the room has a ceiling that slants
@InvestorTheory
@InvestorTheory 5 лет назад
I have done this in another property on a large slant, search for a video around the same time on my channel:) it also does a good job keeping the heat in and cool air.

whats that
@jamesahearn40
@jamesahearn40 11 месяцев назад
So misleading. To all you DYI's out here. Never EVER start a project like against a wall. Weather it is a ceiling or floor and even walls. You find the center of your space and work out from there. You have no idea if the wall is straight/ square with room. You will end up with 2' pc on one side and 4 " on the other. Not symmetrical. Watch a video on centering a room before you do this. Doesn't have to be a ceiling can be a floor, same rules apply
@smittywerbenjagermanjensen752
Personal opinion, bad idea it looks tacky and cheap. You covered a smooth good looking ceiling. Only using those as a last resort to cover the popcorn ceiling containing Asbestos.
