DIY CHESS BOARD 

When you put the finishing coat on the board you should put a few blocks under it to allow the finish to drip on the wax paper from the edges. Then clean the edges after it dries. I do this when I epoxy counter tops. Hope that helps 👍🏼

Thank goodness, someone on the Tube has a great combo of taste and common sense. I hate 99% of the boards I see on yt. Hate the end grain boards, hate most borders, and hate most wood combinations. This board could easily be fitted to a tabletop/box. Love this guys channel.

Beautiful and nicely executed project. I have a friend who wants me to make him a chess board like this, but the problem is that finding good wood like walnut and mahogany is impossible where I live. I will have to make it with pine and stain the wood slats before gluing the panel. It won't look as good as this one but it's the option I have.

With 7 cuts, losing about 1 inch of wood during cutting the 8 2” strips, shouldn’t I cut 17” for the boards in order to retain 2x2” dimensions for each square?

The way he finished the board is something I have never seen.

First and foremost, you did such a beautiful job and have made an amazing piece of art in my eyes. You're an exceptional and excellent carpenter!! My question is when you mix 50/50 "SUPER POLY" it shows in the clip (around 3:40-3:45ish) you mixing w/ two bottles, but they both read "SUPER POLY." So short of the long, what exactly do you mean by a 50:50 mixing ratio? Unless, I'm not understanding your directions to that portion correctly(which is one of many reasons I enjoy watching you at work b/c you really explain very well in your clips and put in writing, SREEN SHOT, lol) so, what is the other solution your mixing w/ the "SUPER POLY?" I hope you can answer me back? I'd like to make one ASAP. Although I'm going to use Oak Burl and Tiger Stripe Maple. Please keep the vids coming, again, you truly are an excellent carpenter,what you do is AMAZING!!Finally, keep that hammer swinging, your saws cutting, drills drilling and most of all, THANK YOU FOR INSPIRING ME. Can you please tell me, have you checked how maple wood works with mahagony in terms of thermal expansion coefficients? What is the risk that these types of wood are not friendly with each other, resulting in cracking, swelling, or splitting? Also, what if I wanted to make the board wood-block end to top to make the wood structure more fancy - would gluing them be any different?

When putting on the F clamps to prevent the crowning does the wood glue get stuck on the extra wood pieces that are keeping the wood in place?

I'm a bit confused. If everything was ripped to 2 inches then cross cut to 2 inches that would be exactly a 16 inch square before squaring up all the sides on the table saw. How does it not come out an 1/8 inch short after squaring it up since you're taking about a 1/16 off the edges?

Here`s a quick tip : instead of wiping away the glue right away, let it sit about 15-20 minutes and then take it off with a box cutter. Much cleaner results and less sanding involved! Good job on the board, cheers
