Why are people so janky. Just make a silicone mold of the lens, and cast it in clear poly. That's how you would get a real clear taillight, and not hack job DIY ceiling light cover tail lights
Or make a frame around a sheet of acrylic, heat it to about 300 and vacuum it to the housing over a peg board over a box with a shop vac attached. DONE. Probably works with this material also
