No surprise, another one of your projects that is looking beautiful. Of course your perfectionism is showing in the quality build of that deck that will last for years. I see two things in your near future. One: belly flops, Two: Air Ruger jumping in the pool to join you, also jumping in the pool whenever he wants. Once again, great job and see you this afternoon on the live stream.

I know that this deck is completed but there is a company that makes a fastener that drills a counterbore hole and provides plugs to fill it after the screw is installed. The ones you used are probably just as effective and probably less expensive. Looking great, can't wait to see it finished, I know you and yours will get many years of joy out of this.

I’ve found from experience that in the hot summer weather of the south, composite decking gets soft and warps from the weight of walking on it. I had to put double the floor joists for support. 105 degree heat is hard on plastic composites.

Lookin good man. I was wondering how much the wood would show through the slats and if it would have been better to paint the wood first, but even with this camera angle you can only see the wood through a few runs. The boards definitely suck up tighter/closer than I thought they would and covers up nicely. All's it needs now is a big ol ruger hole underneath for him to roll around and get filthy in.
@TKCL

If the gaps in your joints are really driving you crazy, you can buy colored silicone caulk that should match that grey very closely. There are dozens of colors to choose from, or you can add some dye to white or clear caulk to perfectly color match the decking. Smear a little bit into the gaps and it will squeeze and stretch with the temperature changes. As always, your project looks great. You should be proud of yourself sir!

Andrew the deck is looking beautiful. You have done a fabulous job. As far as the joints shrinking that is so common that you really can't stop that. You are correct as if it was really cold and you cut tight joints you could have trouble with buckling when it gets really hot. One thing I always did when I was building decks or even houses was to run my 8ft level over the joist as a straight edge and plane the high joist and I would then shim any low ones as all the joist are not always the same width. My guys would complain when I had then do that on roof rafters and ceiling joist but they did it. Makes for a flat finished product. Can't wait to see the finished product. As I have said before, You and Tiffany are living your dream. Take care and go easy on the back, especially when you start cutting all those big logs into firewood that you hauled in. Stay blessed..
