Excellent job. I would add just a few things for your viewers. If you live in a cold winter area or where the water table is high, put in footings for the posts and make sure they are below the frost line. Sinking or heaving will destroy all of the work. Secondly, not all 2x8s will be exactly 7 1/2 inches and with composite, everything has to be absolutely flush. Investing in an electric planer will most definitely be necessary to shave down some joists. Thirdly, if someone wants deck lighting, get it all wired up when the framing is done.
Clark & Deborah: Now that's a professional looking job, Andrew 🎉. You just need a drone shoot of it now. From the big tree back to the house. You do make it look easier than it is, but you did one hell of a job. Hats off to you!!!!!!!!
I love your attention to detail. My husband will often over build something also, but he say if I do this now while I can, then it means when I can't financially or physically no worries. Can't argue with that thinking. Looks fantastic.
If you wanted some deck lighting, you could run some strip lights under the bottom of the railing and drill holes through the posts. Nice and clean and out of the way and you could adjust color and brightness accordingly when you use them. I have seen it done before and i was impressed with the outcome. And by bottom in mean down at the your feet not under the top railing. Deck looks sharp
4 inch poster pergola be sweet over the pool with some lights all in all sweet job very detailed well expained step by step fair play buddy looks the bees knees
Your deck is beautiful, everything is lined up perfectly and it shows how much pride you put into every project you do! I am looking forward to seeing what your landscape project is! Stay safe in the storm coming your way, we had two night of bad storms with heavy rain, thunder, lightning and wind. We got about 6 inches of rain by the time it finally quit! See you tonight on the live!💙💙🩷❤️🤗🤗🤗🤗👍👍👍👍
Clark & Deborah: PS: You may want to glue those post caps on. I'm not sure if you did. But a good wind will take them right off. You probably did off 📷 knowing you. Great job once again, spectacular craftsmanship.
Hi Andrew the composite deck looks amazing. You will have the best engineered deck in North America😉. Love the way your covering the posts for the railing , ingenious. Again the railing looks fantastic, you never disappoint. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
Great video! I have a deal with my wife, I’ll build whatever she asks me to, I just get to buy a new tool for every project(if needed) 😂 sometimes it take a a couple. I built a deck for my pool and got a new miter saw and router out of the deal, and of course we saved a ton of money!
Wow, the deck and railing looks absolutely fantastic :-) that’s one heck of a good price. I thought it was a lot more than that :-) thanks for sharing and God bless.:)
Your Lowe's bucket sponsorship is going to be in jeopardy showing that walmart bucket @5:26,. By the way, The deck looks phenomenal. The flag location looks great when you look out over the deck and see "THE Oak Tree" and perfectly spaced Flag pole flying our Nation's flag. Good job.
Looks fantastic Andrew. Ya the industries have had issue the last few years with manufacturing machines, repairs and just bad product coming from them. You adapt well!!!!
Hi, i just found your channel a few days ago, and i would like to say tyvm. You're a natural teacher and i wanted to say your content is fun, informative and guiding. My guess for the pool (being Canadian lol) 6000, decking 2000. for a total of 8000.
Excellent DYI build, love the look of this deck and the railing! It's definitely hard to do on your own, but the reward and satisfying feeling you get at the end and especially knowing how much you have saved is mind blowing. I saved over AU$30,000 doing the composite decking my self. Keep up the great work! You've got your self a new subscriber. Cheers, Vlad.
Awesome work !!!! Hopefully the storm brings rain and not much wind and spin up tornados. Family up in Thomasville said its very dry...same here in cemtral alabama
@@TKCL Potential impacts in Florida and the Southeast: Some bands of soaking rain could reach parts of western Florida as soon as Monday. Locally heavy rain is also possible in parts of the Southeast not associated with Idalia this weekend into Monday. Heavier rain appears to begin sometime Tuesday, continuing into Thursday from Florida into parts of Alabama, Georgia and the Carolinas. That will likely trigger local flash flooding in some areas. Three to six inches of rainfall, with totals up to 10 inches, are possible for parts of the west coast of Florida, the Florida Panhandle and southern Georgia from Tuesday into Wednesday, according to the National Hurricane Center. Any damaging wind or coastal flooding/storm surge impacts will depend on Idalia's strength and track, but those are uncertain factors this far out. That said, Florida's Gulf Coast is very prone to storm surge, even for modest hurricanes and tropical storms.
Good job on the deck, it made a huge difference to the property look. I enjoy this channel, especially the solar panel frame build; that is how I got to this channel...
@@TKCL It's a pitty the solar frame building parts are done, I like the whole concept and it seems it's working well. I like in general the solar videos, specifically the DIY ones.
@@TKCL Agreed, people need to look to the stars More! there are some post toppers that have adjustable or dimmable features that allow for muted ambiance
Great video Andrew. I guessed 10k as one time I used to build pools. You were spot on about the savings diy. One thing I would also say is that in rural north Florida finding reliable labor is a task in itself. I try to do as much as I can myself and slowly I have saved thousands. Keep up the great content.
You got that right, I called two contractors recently for a job I don't have time for. Neither called me back to even ask about it. Can't even get people to quote me.
Look like you need to move the tree to the right. Just kidding! Thanks for all of the great videos over the years. A lot of wind and rain is headed your way. Stay safe!!!
That looks so good and at a really reasonable cost! I'd guess that, even paying a premium for labor, it wouldn't be up to your standards. You do great work, and as usual have made the best choices. Enjoy it!
I live in Johnson City, TN and labor for decks start around $35 per sq ft upwards of $65 sq ft. depending on deck height and materials. Some charge 15% plus materials and double cost for labor. Nice looking deck you built!
OHHHH MAN!!! That turned out absolutely gorgeous - such clean lines and virtually maintenance free! Beyond "Well done" as always. You and Tiffany should be sooo proud of all you have accomplished - ENJOY KIDS 🏊🍹🥩⛱👍👍👍💜💜💜 {PS...easy tip for those post caps. Instead of silicone, get some clear rubber cabinet door bumpers. One usually is sufficient to snug them up and you don't have the mess or hassle. I did this on the neighbors caps.}
Was there a way to fasten the top caps, didnt seem like it. If not, a nice way is clear or white silicon with a line on the inside area of the cap. Once it dries it acts as a glue. But the deck look great. A foot wash near the edge would be cool.
Excellent video. I am enjoying this series. As an aside...about being unsubscribed, I'm not saying it's not happening. However I am 58 years old and have never been unsubscribed from a channel via RU-vid and I don't work for Google either :-) I will say there have been plenty of times I've cleared my cache and cookies (cookies are important). When you clear your cookies you log out of everything including Google, Google Mail, and guess what RU-vid. Most times you just have to log back in and BOOM there are you subscriptions all safe and sound. Now I am not stupid or naive enough to think this just me nor that Google couldn't unsubscribe you to stuff. But I have a feeling that mostly it is folks clearing their browser cache and not remembering or not realizing that they chose to clear there cookies as well. Have a good day/night. Be good.
It was only $1000 for labor to put the pool up for us in Ohio but we built our own wooden deck but we think we’re going to composite because we keep having to stain the deck boards and we messed up a few cuts as well and a post is twisted almost 1/4 of the way
With you supplying the labor except for some parts of the pool install the material cost has to be close to 10,000. Which means labor would be another 10 or 12
I would say around $10,000. I always do my own projects. The money I save on labor, I can upgrade the materials and get exactly what I want. Also, I have a lot of my own tools; however, the bigger items that I don't have, I can rent and still come in lower than the quoted project.
The little stuff adds up Very fast @ ☆ 13K ish ? ☆ Inc electrical connection stuff + ground prep costs. Q, How many watts does the pump draw AND when you solar connect will the capacity to load still work? Ps Those PV panels look THIRSTY!
Pump is 12.5 amps at 120v, has a heck of a surge on startup. I'll be money ahead to convert to a solar pump instead of upgrading my system to handle this much power.
