DIY Craftsman Lawn Mower Spring Fix

This is very helpful! The hooks on each end of the spring are different, one being more closed than the other. Which end goes where?

Well I got my fingers 🤞..I got a red craftsman riding mower,starts, engine runs smooth, headlights work,blades engage,but don't move forward and reverse.Intimidating when your as mechanically non- efficient as I am!!!

was sold a "fully serviced" Toro lx 500. Well it bogs to the point it wont move, has a whining sound & then the gas peddle goes limp with no spring back. . I could smell belt , or something of a similar at one time as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My brake/clutch pedal swings loosely like the spring came off. AS you press the pedal down there's no tension, and when you release the pedal it just floopy back and forth. I see nothing shown in a diagram of my Craftsman Manual to know what spring to order. I'm 72 yo, and I haven't got onto the ground to check it out yet. I have a Craftsman LT2000 Model#917.275180 (was a 19HP, but I had to installed a new 20HP recently). If anyone could help me with the Part# of the return action Spring I need, please reply. Great video. I will try replacing this spring. My mower was fine then just quit going moving while I was mowing. I have been troubleshooting. I replaced the drive belt and still no go. The spring is not broken? However it seems stretched out. The belts need more tension. Do you think the spring could be the problem? Thanks

Mine is long gone, was in a heavy poison ivy patch when it stopped moving, lol
