I made my own corner radius templates from 1/4" masonite. It works just as well as the Rockler templates you have and only cost $2-3, a heck of a lot less than the $70 that Rockler charges. If I mess one up, it only takes me a few minutes to make a new one. I hadn't thought of templates for the counter-bores. I'll take care of that the next time I'm in my shop. (It's winter with highs in the low to mid 30s. My shop is in an unheated 2-car garage.)
I used a 1” forstner bit and went to about 1/4” deep. It varies depending on the type of feet that you use and the reveal that you’re looking for. Thanks
Great tips. I like the recessed feet. I'm just getting back to woodworking after a long hiatus. I occasionally have minor leveling problems on these (working on that) and this approach will allow me to make some adjustments if necesary. I'm curious: Will the drum sander level a twisted board or does it simply conform to the shape of the board when it sands? Thanks!
Awesome to hear you’re gettin back into it! Great question! The drum sander will not truly flatten a board. The best approach would be to shim it on a sled and run it through a planer, flip it, take it off the sled and then run it through again. Have fun!
