Boot was buggered, with a hole from a stick, CV sounded fine and cruiser is coming up to 385K kms with the first set of CV shafts replaced at 250K when one broke….second one was rebuilt and so it’s one of those 3 that I know own.
thanks Graham. Just wanted to clarify, the lip on the inner CV that you mentioned and showed on the old cv once removed, was that the same lip that you were using to remove the circlip from the diff?? Just with a little force, the circlip disengages from inside the diff?
Yes - I placed the end of the pry bar against that lip and a wack on the end with the hammer and it’s the shock that dislodged the circlip in the diff, you won’t be able to pull it out by hand, not without dislodging the clip first. I use the same procedure to engage the clip upon reassembly with the new CV.
