The channel, or as you say a lane, for the drawstring in the waist also gives it a slight paper bag waist effect. Very nice.

omg I always look for a great pair of camo-sweats and could never find a pair that is both super comfy and cute (right material, great fit, fav color combo very difficult to find) this totally solves that problem! ---loved the "lane" for draw string idea too; a great problem solver! I am crazy about the look of drop crotch pants or knickers. I have thrifted quite a few that seem to be part of a garment from India. I been wearing these type of bottoms since I was in my late 20s and still favor them now at 58. Yeah this was a little bit more of a task for sewing so I rather just thrift them when I come across a pair.. I my first pair of harem knickers I purchased was on a clearance rack at TJMaxx for $.50 and they were black. Every time I wore them I got comment most good but there were people that just was not getting it. Can not wear them now because of gaining weight but one day I hope to find something similar to these in black so I can wear them in the Fall with oversize men blazers. Dang kids they get us every time. My daugher (now 31) would fake me out when she would look up at me with lip puckered for a kiss and at the last minute say "syc". Now I have a granddaughter and I tell her all the tricks. Grandparents always get the last laugh. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come,

Just add some patch pockets! Very cool.

If you are using stretch fabric, cut your waist band the size of your waist. Then stretch and sew to the top of the pants. It will fit your waist and you don’t have all that extra fabric pulling at your waist. Or even add an elastic into the casing of your band if your fabric has no stretch.
