Thanks a million Yvonne, I love labradorite too. Am just starting to learn the complexities of polymer so your tutorials are of great help. Love gemstones too and use them as my focals and polymer will help me to add variety to what I make. You are a wonderful artist and an inspiration to us newbies! Big hug...such marvelous things come out of the earth, love it all.

You are correct! Laboradorite, moonstone, amazonite, and sunstone are feldspars! The color differences are due to different mineral impurities. The flash is due to tiny cleavage planes in the structure that cause light diffraction. Aventurine is a quartz, but has a similar but more speckled flash for the same reason. Thanks for the tutorial!!!!

I have a penchant for Labradorite in any form and like you and your husband, my wife Judy & I are really taken with this wondrous stone. I have watched almost all of the tutorials on making Labradorite and by far yours is far exceeding any out there and looks the most natural in appearance. I shall take your advice and most likely use the glass cabs to cover instead of the UV Resin unless I find there is a non-yellowing UV Resin out there somewhere. Thank you, Yvonne, you're the best presenter out there.

Love the name of your site and love your version of labradorite! I joined because I would love to see what else you make! I made the mistake of ordering a round ball of real labradorite(fake) and it was all just a washed out version of black. Not 1 hint of color!!! I was so disappointed 😞 but now , thanks to you, I can make my own! Thanks a million!💙🖤💚💛💜

Awesome tutorial Yvonne, just one quick question, if I use the faux stone for wire wrapping can I oxidize the copper wire wrap in Liver of sulphur or will the ruin the "stone"?

Beautiful work! Thank you for sharing. Just a thought, that if you place a non-stick paper (parchment, freezer) on top of the clay, and THEN place your cutter on top, and cut, youll get rounded edges which would really make it look natural (worth a try...)

I love watching you. You are truly talented. I did try this and I didn't get anything remotely like yours I got the muddy look in a lot of the piece and when I did the run off it almost completely ran off and the clay became really mushy not sure what I did wrong lol. But it was fun!

Gorgeous cabochons, Yvonne! I hope you'll do some wire wrapping with some of those so we can enjoy seeing you doing it. There are many pearlescent medias that can give a beautiful spectrolite flashing color range and the lumieres are among them as they do give a beautiful oil slick effect. The Daley Rowleys do too but they're way more expensive. Also, did you try mixing some Pearl Pinata in regular colors? That gives good results too. My main problem in years of trying to imitate labradorite is how to make the flash completely disappear and then appear only under certain angles, the way it happens in the real stone. Try topping it with some Opal Magic finnabair acrylics - the results are breathtaking. I'm sure you'd have a lot of fun with it. And also because it's an acrylic with a glue component, you can actually place a thin sheet of translucent clay on it and not just resin it, and that makes it possible to bake the cabochon after, so you can create the bezel and setting after you make the "stone".

Well, this is the 4th different tutorial that I've watched and you are such a natural! You effortlessly put colors together and get beautiful results. I'm about to give up Tonight makes my 5th failure at recreating faux anything. I don't know why because I try to follow instructions to the T. But dear lady, I love your tutorials and the things you create. How do you figure out what colors to use? You use paints, correct? Where does the shine come in? How do you know what thickness to make the jewelry? Do you have a secret for not having your clay stick to your machine? I have to clean mine after EACH time I put clay through(even if it's the same color. My clay either crumbles or sticks. I want so much to make Christmas presents for familyand friends but inevitably, something goes wrong. Did you have these problems when you first started? If so, how long did it take for you to be successful. Well, thanks for listening.....I'll look forward to your nect presentation.💚💙👍

Thanks for another awesome tutorial! Might u know if UV resin yellows or changes in any way if ‘over’ exposed to uv light, like if it’s in the natural sunlight all the time? I wonder if it dries out and starts to crack also. And are the effects on uv resin stronger or less than the same effects on 2-part epoxy resins?
