Oh man, what a "deluge" of issues. Hard to imagine coping with it all but you guys with your faith, humor and skills are so inspiring. Prayers and cheers!
Andrea I can just see you with a concrete saw fixing the drain issue by yourself. Installing French drains and directing water to the street. Everyone needs downspout extenders that roll out and take water away from your house. It's a Lowe's trip. Flooring is beautiful. Dang base molding has really gone up in price. Everything looks good. Hope your insurance will come thru with some help. Have a great weekend.
I’m glad that you guys found out about the issues before it chronically affected your health, so silver linings. The new floors look beautiful. I can’t wait to see the rest of the bathroom makeover.
I know they say what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger, but sometimes it’s a lesson you could really do without. Your floors look great as do the baseboards. Love the extra wide planks. Glad you pick up on the mold issues before it really impacted your health. Stay well and take care.
You guys are extremely courageous for taking these big set backs in your stride. I hope your issues are solved soon and that insurance takes care of you. Kudos on the great flooring.
If it makes y’all feel any better, after the Northridge Quake, people on the street behind us and three door down…their house was a total loss. Our damage, a candelabra sitting on our ebony piano fell over, nicked the piano finish and broke 2 or 3 tea light holders. I know y’all are grateful to have good insurance! We had water damage twice, once literally the night I had told my husband that after I picked up a small piece of furniture the next day we would be finished with our remodel. That same night the hose on the dishwasher broke and the next morning as hubs was on the way to make coffee, he started treading water about ten feet into our 50’ hallway. We’d had floor to ceiling, wall to wall bookcases built on top of carpet! No need to say more, other than I really feel bad for you, and amazed at how you both keep smiling. I shed a lot of tears over our indoor flood. 🙏🏻
I am very impressed with your DIYWIFE RU-vid video because it is surreal watching a young couple tackle a DIY Bathroom project. My congratulations to your wife’s leadership role and the husband’s assistance. Keep up the great work.
We have a mold issue in our main bathroom were getting that taken care of. But my bedroom shares a wall with the bathroom. Now we are having to replace all the sheetrock on that wall in my bedroom . So now I'm sleeping in the living room on an air bed luckily I know how to put up sheetrock. My son is putting the sheetrock I'm taping it and mudding it . Next is going to be new floors . I know what you are going through except that you have young children . Mine are all grown . I have 4 3 girls and 1boy he is the youngest . Good Luck . I hope you get all the drainage problems fixed . Prayers and Love 💞 From Oklahoma
WOW! So many things are happening to people. Sorry to hear all this for you both. You are very talented and strong. Hang in there you guys. You’ll get through it.
How on earth did that exterior water issue pass inspection? That's a major bummer. I've lived through a couple of those kinds of issues. They are not fun or cheap to fix.
@@talisacopeland1767 I think I'm just used to inspections in an area that is frequently hit with hurricanes. Our inspector on the house we bought about 5ish years ago pointed out every single spot in the house that couple potentially cause issues like that even if he didn't find anything because its such a risk where we live.
Well in the upside is the small leak helped find the mold-imagine how much worse that could have been for not only your home but your health! I pray God continues to bless, guide and help provide for you during this stressful crazy time! 🙏😊❤
I had to go to Lowe's the other day and your jingle stuck in my head while driving there!!! Love how in the bloopers Andrea was filming you w/ camera in your face and you were like ....ok that's enough....but you have the cam in her face like allllllllllllllllllllllllll the time and she is not that crazy about it... :) but glad you vlog..such fun vids!
I just installed Flooret LVP in my bedroom and I LOVE it! The quality is so much better than anything I could find at the big box stores and the wider planks made for easier/faster install.
As much as I usually would feel incredibly sorry for anyone this had happened to, you guys will just create another miracle and are a tremendous example to our generation and the ones to come, for how and what to do when bad things happen. Your children are very lucky to have you both as parents and I congratulate you for all the hard work and great mindset you show like it was a normal thing. I can only learn from you, in every way, thank you ❤ (I still felt for you 😢😅)
Y'all are so upbeat and positive and seem to be taking all this in stride. It's good you have family and friends supporting you to keep you going! There are a bunch of us who only know you from following you here on RU-vid who are ready to support you, as well. Please let us know how we can help you!! I've been watching you since 2020 and share your page with everyone I know. You've taught me so much and I adore you both! And yep, my friends and I ALWAYS sing the Lowe's trip song when we go there. 😅
Your new floors are so beautiful. What a lot of work moving furniture and flooring boxes. I love your attitude that maybe God has a better plan for your home than you know of. I hope you are able to get the mold situation fixed without it costing you so much. Take care.
I am sad that this happened to ya'll, but glad that it will get resolved and ya'll will be safe; happy; and healthy! I love your new floors and not be happier for you and your family! As a homeowner whom is a big DIYer, I really enjoy watching your inspirational videos! Well done ya'll!
God's definitely got you covered. I'm so thankful that the mold was revealed so that it could be fixed before things got worse especially your health. Thanks for sharing this journey with us and still smiling through it all.
I hope the next couple of weeks go smoothly for the whole family. It’s so nice to see you both look after each other through the ups and downs and that you can find time to laugh together. ❤
Welcome back!! Oh my! What a mess for you!! 😮 The floor is beautiful! I'm so sorry about the mold. ugh. Yes, you're right...God knew all about this & has a solution for you! It was good to heat you say that!! I love you both!! 💕
This video is a rollercoaster of emotions-I couldn't decide whether to laugh or cry at the mishaps! But amidst the chaos, there are valuable lessons about the reality of DIY projects, especially on a budget. It's reassuring to see the creators persevere through setbacks, reminding viewers that even the messiest renovations can turn out beautifully in the end.
We so enjoy watching you Kiddos - your skill is amazing! I am going to write Lowes a letter and encourage your other followers to back me up- they NEED to sponsor y'all! We sing the Lowes song all the time. Y'all are the family I would send something to help on patron should you want to go that route to get through this crisis. Hope you are feeling better soon.
The whole time that your video was playing, I was clutching my throat! We went through the very same, Le Pew~a name we all came up with after massive mold incident! I had been coughing for about 7-8 months! It was a mess! My kids were safe, Thank God!!! They stayed at the other side of our home. The Lord provides!!! (Every Single Day Is A Lowe's Trip!!! Hahahahahaha!) I love drinking coffee & watching you!!!
OOOHHHH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!.......If I EVER need encouragement when life storms come my way, I will for sure watch THIS video...AND you even had time to make " A LOWE'S TRIP" 99 plus times. The part where she says.....don't bang anything it's coming out of your paycheck...WHAT PAYCHECK!!!!, all the house issues has "DRAINED" him dry (PUN INTENDED)...LOL. I ABSOLUELTY love watching you two, ESPECIALLY of course Dean...he keeps me LAUGHING. Imitating the child in the car seat was a hoot. Let me tell you, you two are MORE THAN CONQUERORS. God's got you, because He saw this BEFORE it happened and what starts out to be bad, God WILL turn it around for your good. It will ALL be "WORTH" the frustration in the end, because the value of the home will increase. Thank you soooo much for sharing and showing us your real life. Blessings to both of you.
"Your "test" will be your testimony, Your "mess" will become your message!" Thank you for sharing your lives with us and showing us its not all rainbows and butterflies. This is the reality of home-ownership! We bought a house 2 years ago and found the last owner LOVED to quick fix (band-aids) instead of the best/correct fix. UGH! Thankfully my husband is in construction and I love design.
Thank goodness you found the mold yuk. Ashame you had to replace the entire floor but it looks updated and fresh now and it’s really nice. Luckily you saved some money painting the face boards yourself. Drainage is so dang expensive it costs a lot and it doesn’t look one iota different it is such a pain but unfortunately it is a necessity. Hopefully you don’t get anymore surprises guys. TFS.😊
Wow!!! What a major project(s)!! I’m so glad you guys are young and have wonderful attitudes. I would not be able to handle the stress. But once everything is done, you’re going to have a beautiful (again) safe home!!!
Love the outlook on the 'crises' Dean, good word. Andrea, I'm sure you probably know this but mold can created gut issues! Please check into getting some inner body mold remdiation as well. Detox solutions. Thank God you found the mold because if it had gone on, you could have developed very serious health issues. Thanks for sharing real life... not just the 'happy' parts!
You guys are going to be in a much healthier home soon. You’ll probably be able to feel the difference. I’m so surprised you all have not been super sick!! So glad you haven’t been!!
You guys ROCK! Just wondering. Are you seeing any spray going into the van while spraying next to it? I sure hope the back spray doesn’t get on your lovely van. ❤
I'm soooo sorry you are having these home issues. I have to say that it sounds like you have GREAT homeowners insurance. Please check with your doctor and your pediatrician regarding chest x-rays just to be safe. Looking forward to the bathroom remodel.
I can't tell you how happy I am to hear that you got new floors! You've mentioned a few times that you wish you had installed water-resistant floors in the first place, so while this was obviously a huge pain, in the long run you got what you wanted 👍. So glad you found the mold as well. If you tear up some of the concrete near the house, would you consider putting in some flower beds next to the house to help with the drainage and add some greenery? And BTW what happened with your Crate and Barrel leather chairs? I LOVED THEM.
Yes, we are glad to have water-resistant floors as well! And yes, that is actually the initial plan outside is to (potentially) make a flower bed to help with the drainage but to also add some inviting greenery.
So pretty 😍 I’m so glad that they discovered the mold. My daughter had a severe reaction to mold in her dorm room. We ended up moving her off campus because the mold kept coming back even after they cleaned and painted the walls.
I know it probably doesn’t feel like it with the expense and the exposure to it up to now, but finding that mold is a major blessing. You could have gone years never knowing it was there and you or the little ones could have eventually gotten sick. God bless you and keep you safe 🌸
I don't know what to say..WOW! A plethora of issues and I am so sorry you had to ruin the beautiful rooms you have already remodeled, yet this is good that you found out all the issues and can get them fixed. Dean is right- God has a better plan for you, and for all of us and we all will get through our trials. Thank goodness you guys are still young and agile to take on all this work! God Bless!
God bless you all! May Lord give you favor with your insurance company and provide the perfect contractor to do the drainage work for your home so that you never have this issue again. Your new floors look amazing!! I have shared your link with my two children who are in the process of building new homes :) Blessings to you and your family.
