obviously its not “last minute” to be prepping for the holidays right now, but these are some gifts for you to make that wont take much time (therefore you can wait till last minute, as we all know that we will 😅)

Quick important note for the samples gift: Certain products (such as lotions, sunscreens, etc.) can sometimes warp foreign packaging/products can damage the person's skin or body if they are packaged in a material that is not compatible with the composition of the product! For example: A sunscreen that is put into another container that does not chemically interact well with the product incased can completely change the interior product and make it no longer safe for use! Just thought I'd put that out there because it seems important. If you are reading this, I encourage you to look it up if the product you are looking to transplant is safe to do so

@Sunnbuzz

@@lovingmayberry307 Its hard to imagine something that goes on the skin would have the abilty to damage 'plastics' , especially when its only residue, although oils and scents within a product may over a long time, like years and years break down packaging. I remember before gel polish that Keri lotion would melt/spear my dry nail polish (nail polish takes 24hrs to full dry)

Yes! And food can go bad as well, if the container isn't prepared properly, even if the product doesn't need to be refrigerated. But I love the qr code sticker I am totally doing that for an advent calendar group I'm in. So thx Becky. Oh and the flower arrangement looked stunning. I actually have an original ikebana frog somewhere. I'm inspired!! 🥰🥳

I used to work in a florist, how we would fill up those single stem vials (the one you put the pothos cutting in) was to submerge it in a bucket of water and then put the top on. A lot easier then pouring it in! One of my jobs was filling up 100's of those at a time.

My gift: Baked goods. Gingerbread for everyone, personalisable with names, can add a hole for ribbon and hang it on the tree, favourite animals as shapes, perfect. Then for closer friends they also get shortbread, fudge, and maybe their favourite flavour cupcakes. Everyone loves it, minimal waste (I gift in tins which can either be returned for future use or kept if the recipient wants!) Winner.

I love receiving something I’d never buy for myself, it makes it feel so special ☺️ and also the holidays are literally made for eating 🤤🤣 totally onboard with reusable packaging too and let’s be honest, who doesn’t love nice tins to fill up with treats ☺️ I think there’s been a bit of a resurgence lately of giving food gifts and I’m all for it!! Omg thrift gifts are my JAM!!! 🍓 I keep my eye out for these items whenever I go thrifting or to markets. I know they're appreciated so here is my input ☺️ - Unique glassware or mugs; Pair it with a favourite tea/coffee or a favourite alcohol and you have a gift that doesn't take up too much space. Bonus points if you make your own alcohol, I make a mean vegan Irish Cream Liqueur - Photo frames! Put photos with pressed flowers for an extra special touch; I have done this many times for friends as a wedding gift and it is always a hit! But even if it's just a photo of you and your loved one with their favourite flowers pressed in the frame, it is such a sweet gift - Unique tea towels/hand towels. Make a little hamper (kitchen stuff might be a home-made spice blend and some high quality balsamic or olive oil, hand towels you could gift a face mask and pampering cosmetics) You can easily use them as wrapping paper too! - Nice Tupperware/Food containers or serving plates; I will gift these stacked with sweets or other home-made gifts - Good quality clothing; (think wool sweaters, gloves, leather jackets etc). This really helps if you KNOW the person's style. I will always wash and clean up whatever item I buy, de-pill the knitted sweaters, condition the leather etc. - Bottles and jars for canning. I make a lot of jams and relishes, and I infuse a lot of spirits for friends. Buying jars and bottles for this is a lot cheaper and also a lot more unique! - Knick-nacks and toys from childhood! Sometimes a little momento from your childhood makes such a sweet and personal gift, and really shows the person you listen to them! I found my friend three of the Sylvanian Families animals (I believe they're called Calico Critters in the USA? I'm from Australia so I'm unsure!) that she always wanted as a child but couldn't afford and she nearly cried when I gave them to her! I hope this helps some people!!!

If you look at the example pics of the napkins at 7:48 you can see that the corners are mitered. This helps prevent the exess bulk at the corners when folding over the hem. Just snip the corners at an angle so they meet up, just like you might with wood at the corner of something like a frame for example. Will make your napkins much neater and nicer looking!
@nommh
@nommh Год назад
The corners in the example picture are mitered, the corners of Beckys napkins are not, and it looks as if she cut the fabric without looking at the grainline which can make sewing unnecessarily difficult. This my be an inspiration for handmade napkins, a tutorial it certainly is not.

the fabric for the napkins is so pretty - to make them look extra 'done' you could miter the corners when you hem them.

My 'go-to' are homemade products like bath-salts, body powder, etc. You can easily order containers off of Amazon or even find cool ones inside your local dollar store and then buy your favorite oils and mix and package with care! I did this when I was super broke one year and when I didn't do it the next year, all of my friends were so bummed and demanded them every year! Just search the internet for the easiest recipes. I used cornstarch for the body powder and baking soda and epsom salt for the bath salts, etc. Heck, even my room/pillow spray was simple with distilled water, lavender oil, a touch of baking soda and a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to keep it 'mold free'. I had no idea how such simple "I'm broke" gifts were so appreciated until I did it!

My favourite last-minute (and cheap/free/sustainable) gift is to regift. But not as a secret - do it intentionally with the thought of "I love this thing, and I think Person would love it too/more". Gift something that's in good shape that you love like a book, a necklace, a scarf, or even a decor item/plant. And then maybe include a note about why this item made you think of the gift-ee. And then I sometimes include something like a favourite tea, or a little candle, or a bottle of wine. It's a great way to stretch out a small item or to personalize a kind of generic gift.
@AnnekeOosterink
@AnnekeOosterink Год назад
I have three things that aren't SUPER last minute, but definitely DIY. :) I make my own face and hand cream by combining a cream I love and mix in an oil. By mixing it with a handmixer you fluff it up, and it feels so soft, it's more of a mousse than a cream. The oil I use is jojoba oil, and rose glycerin cream. The cream makes it easier to make the oil stay on the skin, and also helps it get absorbed. Just the oil tends to stay on my skin like a layer, and just doesn't really absorb at all. I have made cooking/salad oils in the past, by putting herbs etc into olive oil. Depending on what you put in it, you may have to fry it in the oil so the oil can absorb the flavours. Garlic, for example, can harbour bacteria if you just put a clove in oil, so just sort of deep fry it in a pot of oil so the oil gets super tasty. Lemon juice and rosemary is also a lovely flavour. And finally, I have also made hot chocolate spoons in the past, melt chocolate, whichever flavour your recipient likes the most, and fill up the spoon. Add sprinkles or mini marshmellows into the chocolate for visual interest, and you have a spoon to just stir into hot milk for the best hot chocolate ever. A chocolate store near me sells them too, but then it's a spoon made of chocolate, which works too if you have a mold for it. :)

I loove the sample idea. As an avid plant lover and collector, I always have plant cuttings I'm rooting in some water. I've added them last minute as gifts or for Bunz trades many times. I highly recommend getting some cuttings started early to make sure those ones start growing roots and survive. Depending on the plant, some are easier to have cuttings survive than others.

TIP: 10:31 To eliminate the breaking out of the wood on the underside of the wood Becky is drilling simply clamp a waste piece of wood UNDER the project wood piece that you then drill into. It will give support to those wood fibers and keep them intact and smooth so your wood stays perfect. Also, don't cantilever it out so far out as it is really under tension as you are pushing the drill through the wood.
