Hi Dacey! :)Just a few tips- those scissors aren’t professional hair cutting shears, you want Japanese steel shears, the ones you’re using can also make you feel like you need to trim more often, ground rule, if you can hear your hair being cut, they aren’t sharp enough (I use Hachi shears). Also your hair should be all wet or all dry and straight-very important or else it won’t end up actually even when you wear it curly/straight. But it’s all personal preference, just a few tips from a hairstylist & be prepared for it not to be perfect. I trim my own hair in between cuts, so I understand it can be useful to know how to cut your own hair! :)
Thank you so much for doing this! I know it’s kind of hard to film this bc of all the criticism but thank you for still making the effort to do so!!!!! 💕💕😩
LOVED this video! I cut my hair this morning and it came out FANTASTIC! Many thanks for doing this video it is hands down the best layered hair cut video I've come across. Funny thing is I LOOOOOOVE your beauty vids and I was looking for a DIY hair cut vid with layers and then I saw you had one and I was so excited and you didn't disappoint! Thanks again for this video and saving me $$$$ I'll never get a professional hair cut again.
GIRL I feel you on never being satisfied with professional haircuts, I am the same and have always been happier when I cut it myself because I know my hair and I can take my time with it. I kind of suck at it though, cutting the back straight is so hard 😂 last time I got it professionally cut they were like ummmm wtf is this. Also YES I had a hairdresser use a razor once and it made my hair look and feel awful. Thank you for this vid you seriously have the best hair of all time - bhoat!!
Alex Rajao hair dressers even at expensive thank you for this...salons have become soooo lazy... hence the razor and sheering scizzors...looks like crap.. also no accident girls with thick hair can’t get a good cut... not because they don’t know how but they are Too lazy to take the time
I've watched tons of these. This one is good. I keep thinking I'm going to bite the bullet and cut my own. I will be just at that point and say nah watch another video 😁
I just cut my own hair yesterday for the first time and I got to say it's one of the few haircuts I've ever loved! I used a very similar technique to this video.
Love your hair style, can I ask i have similar style but no layers and I have a fringe, so to do my front layers should I only take two sections and cut shorter, rather then three
Question on when you first started the layers, how did you decide how much hair to pull forward on each section of your layers!! Love this and am excited to try it out!!
Hey, wanted to come back and say I used this method to try and fix my bad first attempt and it looks a lot better. Good thing I had really long hair and didn't cut a ton off in the first attempt! Thanks.
I’ve learned that an expensive saloon isn’t always guarantee of a good result, it always depends of the hairstylist, and that applies to color too. I’ve found my girl and I follow her everytime she changes of saloon and if I go some day and she isn’t there, I come back another day. Faithful to death.
I actually cut my hair my own in a very similar manner. I have long thick hair like yours. The one I do different is that I use a comb when parting my hair in sections in half instead of eyeballing it(just because I’m a little ocd lol). This was really good!
I don’t trust myself cutting my own hair but I love love love the style! How would I explain this hairstyle to my hairstylist? Or is there a specific name for it? 💖
How do you initially figure out which hair to layer? Looks like you just grabbed a bunch of hair lol do you go from like your ears to your crown to find the front layering section?
I just tried cutting my hair from another video and jacked up the front so bad. luckily my hair is pretty long and I wear it up all the time anyways. I will use your method very cautiously to see if I can slowly fix the front.
Love this video so much! You make it seem so easy! Are you still using the all soft shampoo and conditioner?! Also do you have a favorite leave in conditioner? 😀
So funny! I decided earlier that i was gonna cut my hair today, then i see this video n im like ok fate. Then u make it look so easy and i check the scissor price, 20 bucks not bad. And those clips ivebeen wanting for ages, 7 bucks in stock on the 10th, which is wen i get paid! Ha! Thankiu girlie, looks beautiful!
Can't wait for my hair to get to a longer length to try this tutorial out!! Could you please do a tutorial on how you color your hair, your highlights are amazing!! If I could just get these two things down it would save me so much cash, pleasseee help your girl out!
You are a badass for doing this! It looks great and I’m seriously considering trying it. My hair is unforgiving, as it’s thick and board straight. Yours appears to have a tiny bit of wave/body. Anyway, thank you!!
To Courtney yau and other hairdressers commenting below.... by and large you foul up thick beautiful hair... whether its jealously, laziness, ignorance or some combination of all three it makes us retreat to the safety of our own scissors and common sense... I ONLY go to expensive salons OnLY to be disappointed time and again. This girls hair is lovely and so now mine will be.. 😘
Two Cents I’ve learned that an expensive saloon isn’t always guarantee of a good result, it always depends of the hairstylist, and that applies to color too. I’ve found my girl and I follow her everytime she changes of saloon and if I go some day and she isn’t there, I come back another day. Faithful to death.
Dacey, do you also texturize the ends of your hair? I didn't see it in this video but the ends looks texturized. Not sure if you do but can you make a video if you do. Thank you
Great tutorial! You can get some really good quality hairdressing scissors on amazon for a great price. I've been cutting my husbands hair for 24 years now and he recently went to 2 different barbers and wasn't happy. What they did do was lay down a pattern for me to follow, he wanted a complete change of style, and that helped. Honestly, I did a better job than the barbers! 💕💕
Curious what your natural hair colour is? I love the colour it is right now, I have naturally black hair and sometimes have the itch to try dying it but probably never will lol :p
This is a mostly decent DIY hair cutting video with one exception -- not using a comb and using fingers to section and comb hair before trimming is a recipe for disaster. The combs are cheap and available everywhere. All DIY-ers out there, please buy and use one.
This is the second video I’m watching from your channel the first video of u I watched just today was a gel nail one that you uploaded 3 years ago and I saw Natalie outlet’s comment and I think you two should COLLABORATE!!!!!!!
That's how I do it too. Works for me aswell. Only difference is I cut them all at once and not in layers because I have a lot of hair and I am too lazy for many layers :D
It looks decent. I cut way too high even tho it didn't look high since I my hair is really bouncy and now my hair is beginning to get curly which I'm very confused about. I'm learning things about my hair. Also my hair only looks good up atm bc I'm kinda scared of doing the second layer. Bout to do it now yolo
