Couple of tips having now done this after watching your video: (1) You can remove the trim without damaging the clips if you prise it off between the light and the trim, rather than between the trim and the bodywork. Both methods are on RU-vid but I think the former helps move the trim away from the clips more easily. (2) The light cluster comes out easily if you press the tab at the bottom (from the inside) and pull the assembly out . (NOTE: our MINI is a 2012 R59)
Excellent video! Thank you! I was able to replace the bulb by myself and save a ton of money. My late husband was the family mechanic, so I'm slowly learning how to do these kinds of things on my own. Thanks again
Really useful video.Well worth a watch. thanks for posting. I ended up having to remove the entire light assembly as the bulb holder had welded to the light assembly. If you need to do this ply the chrome strip with fir tree removal tool on the inside edge closest to the light lens. You will not damage the clips. Remove the three screws and then use removal tool just to free it off
@@SimpleCarGuy Your welcome. Having worked in the car industry for last 17 years I am shocked how poorly and cheaply made these mini`s are put together. High profit margins and low VFM for customers
I just had same issue with reversing bulb... Just undid it and removed bulb from the back, did not take the light out. It's a squeeze with big hands but got it done
I removed the electrical connector so I could hold the housing in my hands. I had to use a large pliers to grip the circular base and twist. It appears some of the plastic melts at the top location making it stick - likely due to the bulb being too close to the plastic.
@@jamesgarage4327 True. Same here. The three below come out very easily but the top is a bitch. I replaced the socket (and bulb) and I’m still having trouble getting the proper contact. The dash light is driving me nuts.
I checked the bulb, replaced the bulb no power to the lights. What about checking a fuse? Thanks for your direction I was able to disassemble the brake lights. Mine was a little different f-55?
F55 would definitely be different. Have you checked to make sure there was no corosion there? Sometimes a good cleaning and some de-oxidant helps as well. Of course, check the fuse before you go any further.
why would you link the search results for "mini cooper brake light bulb" the whole point of me following the link is because I wanted to be certain I pick the correct bulb....
Tried following the video, had my dad helping me change my BRAKELIGHT. Ended with him throwing my phone into the toilet and flushing it due to you calling it a headlight. Very disappointed in ur lack of knowledge of a taillight and breaklight.
