DIY - How to Replace the Sash Lock on your Casement & Awning Windows 

I just encountered my first broken window handle and your video is exactly what I needed to see! I live in Winnipeg Canada and may I ask where can I buy those tools and the new handle? Thank you so much again for your video with expertise!!!!

I have 3 awning windows and there is a lock on each side of the opening window. There is a different system on mine then what is shown in the video. Last week with the -40 cold, one corner is not sealing , lower right , lower left corner is OK. I talked to the fellow at the Coop where they where bought, but a new guy and he did not know how to adjust the latch. looks like a short metal bar on sash with 3 screws and slots , one screw is a lock . There are on the second floor so hard to see from inside. Barry M

For anyone with rivets and not screws, the only way to repair this is to drill out the rivet. You need to find some appropriate screws to replace the rivets with and you need to be mindful of that you don't use the rivet hole for your screws. At the same time, if you put the clips in the wrong locations it will interfere with the window closing and locking properly so check the functionality before screwing the clips back in place. This whole process was needlessly complicated and difficult. Please All Weather Windows, don't use rivets in your products, it is very anti-consumer.

Is there a way to do this without removing the tie bar? My tie bar that was installed by you guys doesn't have removable screws on it.

I have the same problem as sebastian, no screws, just rivets. I can't figure out how to get this off without breaking it.

The most glaring issue with this video is that they do not explain what position the rotating handle should be in either locked/ attempted unlocked position. People will be there just bashing their paint scraper with a hammer wondering why the window is now smashed and the rod is bent.

taking a putty knife or small thin pry bar with a hammer and light taps does not work after a few tries

I am trying to change lock today but cant as there is no screws, you guys install windows at my home, now I have to pay 200 to fix it by your technician??? Its really costly if u can put screw then I can do it by my self easily, it’s really frustrating
