Considering this upgrade, what did you have to do to the shifter for the additional gear position? Also you said you had to get a custom drive shaft, wouldn't a stock Humvee shaft work from a newer humvee with OD, and if you needed a different length in the back wouldn't you need a different length driveshaft to the front? Thanks
For the shifter I found a 4 speed one off eBay. Yeah I have to get a custom one for the rear. It was actually about the same price as a used one off eBay so I got a new one. The front one ended up still working
Is this a 6.5 or 6.2 engine? I'd love to do the 4 speed - but here in mountain country the 6.2 barely has enough to push it uphill in third with the RPMs screaming. I'm torn between adding a turbo or the trans.
FYI: Please keep in mind when getting to modify the Maxi-ambulance body interior you will be dealing with panels made Kevlar (intended for ballistic protection). If you ever tried drilling through carpeting, you will experience the same problems drilling through the woven Kevlar panels. AM General had those panels cut to size and holes, etc. cut in them with Laser cutters.
What top/back is that I’d like to find one but I have no idea what that’s called. I’ve seen the helmet top but that’s a little different. It looks like of course.
@@KyleSVT DO IT!!! :) Last couple of months, Gov Planet has had a bunch of older non-runners go for about 2K-4K. Great starting point for a Cummins(👍) or Duramax(👎) build...
Nice fella!! 4-speed OD is definitely a good upgrade! I'm currently about 250 hours into my Cummins/Allison 6-speed/NP205 swap...not dejected yet, but MAN!!!
