DIY Kayak Skeg Part 2 The Installation 

I've been wanting to put a skeg on my kayak for a couple of years now. Your instructions are detailed and helpful. I like your design. You've inspired me to try my own. thanks.

Thanks for the video. Using your tutorial I made one for my home built 19'4" sailing kayak using brass plumbing fittings, polyethelene plumbing hose, and stainless steel cable all available at Lowe's. White translucent cutting board is available at Wal-Mart and looks better than purple. Anyway, it has been working flawlessly over two seasons through about 250 miles of paddle sailing and I couldn't ask for better. I am considering making another for the bow to improve upwind sailing by reducing lee cocking.

But on such a beautiful boat, why is the actual skeg itself so incongruous? Sure it will be underwater when deployed, and mostly invisible otherwise. But ... lavender? Was it still not finished, in this video?
