I'm obsessed with the Japanese streetwear icon, the Kimono so I had to make my own. In this video, I do everything from scratch, from cutting to sewing. I couldn't be happier with this creation which was inspired by John Mayer and Kanye West that can rock Kimono like nobody else. Hope you enjoy :)

Amazing, so nice to watch, I get all the chill vibes and motivation to just try and see what happens. Can’t wait to make mine, I saw some other videos today and one lady was using something called “french seam”, so the inner seems won’t look raw and it will be all nice and clean. It looks really good on you btw! Thx for this

Thank you for the kinds words :) I did some French seems on the hips and shoulder I believe (it’s been a while) but sometimes it’s hard to setup if you don’t have enough seem allowance basically. Keep me posted if you make your own btw, I want to see it :) enjoy your day!

French seams are easy and the best way to learn them is by sewing a pillow case. And one can find the “ borrito” pillow case tutorial and you will learn 2 things which will apply to garment sewing. French seams and the yoke of a dress shirt. Both leave no raw edges against the body.

Hey, you did a great job. I learned how to do a french seam from youtube. Hides any raw edges. Takes a bit longer but worth it. Good for you though. Very impressed .

Hi! Not sure if someone already said this, but the fusible web did not stick to the elastic because of the content of the elastic! Even if it did stick, it would not stay because the elastic will want to stretch. Next time, you can try bias tape but the felled seam is nice!

thank you Courtney, i just learned something :) I appreciate you taking the time to write this. Enjoy your day

I legit couldn’t find any that was affordable. That’s why I played around the different part. Looking back, I wish I had 2-3 shades of blues though.

can I ask what type of fabric did you use for the kimono?
@ProjectStuff
@ProjectStuff Год назад
Some random viscose light weight fabric. Wouldn’t recommend it, it washes poorly I feel.

@trixietan5741
@trixietan5741 3 года назад
@@ProjectStuff if you do the pattern for your size - we can follow and adjust where required. I’ve read that this garment is usually one size fits all.

Kimono was introduced to Japan by Korean monk as funeral clothing in plain tan material color which Japenise copied it to make it into their own clothing with coloring because they had none.
@ProjectStuff
@ProjectStuff 3 года назад
Thank you for your comment. This is very interesting. Korea still uses kimono for funerals I assume? It’s wild that it became part of « Japanese streetwear » now.

You could learn how to do French seams or how to do bias tape on seams.

What you're wearing at the beginning doesn't look like a kimono it looks like the top piece of a samue

I just googled it and you are right it seems. What’s the difference with a kimono then?
