Looks so cool. The others at the siege would be so envious "mr Wax; he's got the swankiest armor, nooobody can match him for stylishness" - until the first arrow hits, then you're mr Nobody all over again! Hopefully, that'll never happen!

I need a video about how you are making the gold paint and antiquing it. I loved the rivet video for the variety of options. Then boom! Magic gold with blackwash showed up. How? Please give an assortment of techniques for color finishing.

Love love your videos💙 What brand of glue sticks do you use? On your “supplies” website it just mentions the glue gun. The sticks I have (probably old) would never hold all those seams. Thanks!
@LostWax

I use AdTech Multitemp glue sticks, I've never used any others so can't compare, but they work well for me.

Ty for designing the armour, I bought your templets for it and am working on it now, it’s looking epic so far, but where do you get that foam mat, I looked online and couldn’t find it. I am currently using harbor freight puzzle mats

Great content, enjoy the film style. Do you find that hot glue creates a similar bond to contact cement? I hate the fumes and have been looking for an alternative. I currently use hot glue for filling lines and layering, but have never used it for attaching at the seam.
@LostWax
@LostWax 2 года назад
I'd say contact cement does create a stronger bond, however I have tried pulling apart pieces I have glued with hot glue and the foam will generally rip, not the glue. Also, I don't heat seal my foam before gluing, as that will reduce the ability of the hot glue to grip the foam. The main thing that gets people frustrated with hot glue is not waiting long enough for the glue to cool before letting go of the seam. That's why a variable temp glue gun is so helpful, if you turn it way down, the glue cools so much faster. If I was doing professional work, I'd use contact cement, but since I am in my basement, I'd rather deal with hot glue and not have to worry about all the Contact cement fumes.

@@LostWax Great tip, appreciate the feedback. I like the variable for the same reason, much faster dry time and heat time. Keep up the great work.

Wondering how many actual work hours it took to put this together? My daughter wants a 'Knights and Princesses' birthday in November and I'm wondering if I'd have time to make this up for myself, haha. I also saw on your website that your adult size is more medium. I'm 6'5" and about 250. I'm wondering if it would work to increase the size of the template when I print it to make a larger size? Thanks!
@LostWax
@LostWax Год назад
I'm not sure how many hours, because I was filming while putting it together and that takes a fair bit of time. Making the actual parts is fairly quick, the things that add a lot of time are all the edging strips and the painting, so if you can cut some corners there you can save time. Oh, yeah, I just released an adult size XL, which should be perfect for you, it's included with the pattern, I just forgot to update the description.
