homie i have been looking EVERYWHERE to find a more androgynous design for a chest plate, they’re always really stylized and for titty emphasis. i’m so happy you made this you’re a lifesaver!

That's because some women have bigger breasts that can't just be forced down by armor plates.

Any chance on a blueprint update/availability? I love the simple design and I'm in the process of learning how to work with foam for armor.

So I’m having trouble sizing, I feel like it would’ve been helpful to see how you came up with the shape with the duct tape in the beginning. 😬

Hi! I love this design so much, but I have one question. Is the black base coat necessary? Or can I just go in with the metallic first?
@evansaywell6605
@evansaywell6605 Год назад
That's such a dope design. I really love the smaller details and the more functional aspect. I was wondering how you send about attaching the straps the the actual chest piece, did you use glue to attach the straps? Same question applies to the pauldrons to the shoulders
@universeofemily
@universeofemily Год назад
Thank you! The straps have a piece of foam sewed the the end, which is in turn contact cemented to the armor. Super secure this way!

@universeofemily
@universeofemily 2 года назад
Hi!! I attached the shoulder pauldrons to the breastplate with their own adjustable straps. Just a “hanging” piece of fabric with velcro, and another loop for the bottom (to go around the biceps). Let me know if this helps!

I like that you made the chest plate look like something one would wear for actual protection. But steel usually works better than foam. Just FYI.

@universeofemily
@universeofemily 2 года назад
Thank you SO much! That means a lot! ❣️ If I could remake the breast plate I would definitely add more details like additional foam strips and rivets. I was afraid of the design looking too busy, but now I want more!! 😂
@Antiganos
@Antiganos 2 года назад
@@universeofemily I think the simplicity of the design really helps it sell as real, it sits comfortably between a vaguely historical pseudo fantasy look, but some brasswork/etc is always an option. Awesome job

Great tutorial! I never considered using Gesso to seal the foam. Does it stay flexible, or does it become rigid when it's cured?
@universeofemily
@universeofemily Год назад
So glad it was helpful! 💖 The gesso is less flexible than, say, Plastidip, but still flexible. I like it for armor pieces that might bend a little but aren’t meant to move too too much!

Very sturdy! High density foam is surprisingly durable, and small dents can be fixed with a quick blast from a heat gun! :)

how did you attach the cotton straps to the armor? when i made a similar foam armor, i used cotton twill iron-on patches as straps and attached them to the armor with contact cement, but the bond was quite weak and one of them actually fell off completely during the convention!
@universeofemily
@universeofemily Год назад
Hi there!! I super glued foam onto the ends of the fabric (and then stitched around the edges for extra security -- although i think it would have been fine without this extra step!) and then used contact cement to glue the foam-covered end of the fabric to the armor. I hope this helps!
@renaissance255
@renaissance255 Год назад
@@universeofemily thanks for the advice, i'll try that next time! also, with the silver spray paint you used, did you ever notice it cracking and bending under slight pressure from the foam moving? i've been on a manhunt to find a good shiny/reflective silver spray paint that remains flexible
@universeofemily
@universeofemily Год назад
I hope it goes well!! The crackling under pressure had more to do with the primer than the paint itself - i recommend plastidip spray for primer since it dries “rubbery”! And rust-o-leum metallic paints are always my go to!!

@Kombo4196
@Kombo4196 Год назад
A few tips for your next breast plate: - Make arm holes bigger so you have more mobility and the plate doesent dig to your skin while mowing around - minimize the side cab between the back and front plate. this makes it look more like the historical pieces and improves the look anyways I hope those are useful

Come on, we all know female armor has to have the boob shape. And none of your stomach is even showing. I’m getting a feeling you have never seen a female character in a video game before… for take 2, just make a metal bikini and that will pretty much be 100% accurate.
