Hazi can I use a 12v to 5v 12 watt power step down in this set up? I need to run the nano plus another power source for brake lights. Could I install step down on power line of leds would it effect the 330 ohm resistor?

You can use a 12v to 5v step down. That’s what I did too. 330 ohm resistor does not affect by it.

Great Project! What if I only have a 24 LED strip, how do I modify the coding? With 80LED strip setting it only flows in one direction, even with speed at 5.

Ideally I would love to use this chasing light same as Kitt did, but in Canada red light is not allowed on the front of the cars (only reserved for police). If I change the color or move it to the back of the car... well... it won't be a kitt anymore :) So I decided to go with red on the front but to only have it triggered by the car un/lock, for a brief 30 seconds. I have no clue about coding but I was wondering how to change the program to start on a short 12V positive pulse (door actuator) and to stop after 30 sec or say 10 running cycles

Hazi when uploading to my nano it attempts 8 to 10 times then I get avrdude error can you help? I was able to get one nano to work but on my 3rd now

Hey, in Arduino IDE, go to Tools - Processor and then select ATmega328P (Old Boot loader) if you are current at ATmega328P. Or other way around. Then upload the code. This should work fine.

Not at all. You can use either. Even without the resistor this works. It is for extra protection.

Actually it can be done with an array of transistors. Basically exact copy of what KITT has. I did it some time back. If there is enough demand, I'll make a full video guide.

@@HAZITECH WEll I know in the real show they used relays and 55W halogen bulbs. However it would be neat to have a small control module like an arduino where you can adjust speed and have other scan modes .Maybe even add the sounds module.

Hi, for an example, in the code "CH1(LED_POWER_7, 0, 0)" corresponds to CH1(Red,Green,Blue) values. So if you want to have white instead of Red, you can copy and paste the Red value to Green and Blue. Eg1. CH1(LED_POWER_7, LED_POWER_7, LED_POWER_7), Eg2.CH2(LED_POWER_6, LED_POWER_6, LED_POWER_6). Since white is consuming more power, make sure to power the LED strip from both ends.
