I've been following the whole armor build since day one, slowly building up my confidence to try making the suit myself, but I cant wait to get started!
@@aiedle007 I have used 2 double shoulders from Tandy in 8 oz. and made the helmet, two spaulders, and 2 arm sets, all in 120% oversize. I imagine I'll use 2 more making the cuirass and another one to make the gorget and tasset set.
I have done some leather work when I was a kid. I haven't seen the technique of using weight on the piece to steady the work. Mine kept moving on me, that's why I haven't done it in a while.
I just want to thank you so much prince! You helped encourage me to just go for it even though I had people that judge my choices! I'm so thankful to you for giving me the courage to just say to heck with it and try anyways!! 🙏🖤
I keep looking at the design of this and thinking to myself that would look wicked with an eye of Sauron embedded under the middle barb. That or maybe two monster like eyes
Hello! Just bought this pattern. I'm sort of wondering what size neck you recommend for the different scales. I'm guessing you want some clearance around your neck but how much? The 100% scale looks fairly small, with approximate circumference of 14 inches. What size neck would this be best for? Looking to make this for my neck size (which is 14"), and for my husband who has a 15.5" neck. Looked at the information online, the video tutorial for the gorget and the one on scaling and I can't quite figure it out. Thanks for the help!
Great video, you do amazing work! I've been doing leather work on and off for about 20 years and I love watching your videos. Will you be making any sword or dagger hanger videos?
Tuff Kote is the sealer used here. It gives a result somewhere between a satin and low polish. It's a great protectant and seals very well. Check out the "leather supplies" link in the description for a great source
That's how it's pronounced? I've always pronounced it "gor-get" with hard g's and the typical English pronunciation of the "t." You know, T as in 'T-uh-a-a-n leather' or 'T-a-p-uh' the 'T-uh-o-o-l genT-uh-ly.' Oh, and the 'gorzhey' is up to the standards we expect to see from your masterful craftsmanship. Excellent.
Question for you, is putting gold leaf on the edges of leather Armor a good idea? or does it some off? Any way to seal it to the armor so that it doesn't rub off?
Depends on where on the body and the amount of use it will see, like high friction or high flex areas it probably won't last long qnd as far as rubbing off there are a few semi flexible clear coats just remember to do a test piece to make sure it will have a desirable effect
There was some weird glitch with my printer driver that was causing everything to print in negative. No idea why, or what was wrong but reinstalling the driver fixed it.
