Took some time to relax and decided to make these display boxes. Absolutely fantastic. Thanks for your dimensions and hints along the way. We have 5 cars - only problem is for some of the larger ships, I have to make larger boxes....Great Job in explaining!
I keep coming back to this video. It's the best looking lego display I've seen. Hoping I can do something similar out of IKEA products as I can't really DIY it myself. Awesome skills.
So glad I came across this video, I’ve been looking everywhere for my Lego technic shelves and came across this and now I have a carpenter building them for me
Best way to display your technic, period. Unfortunately my garage is stuffed full of mechanics tools. Fortunately my friend is a finish carpenter. Having 12 of these built as we speak. Thank you for the inspiration and detailed build
Nice project! I'm keen to do something for our Lego sets. Probably the only thing I would change is the back end looks untidy with the short side for the plywood slide. Rather than add handles to the plywood, use the offcut from the side (trimmed an extra 6mm to account for the thickness of the ply). Glue this to the plywood and it not only provides a handle, but also neatens the look.
Although it seems a simple project , it came out awesome .!!!!! I love cars but that would be nice for my zippo collection . I really enjoy that video . Great job !!!!!!!!!!!!
@@SmallFryCreations I was thinking of doing it in a long, continuous unit but seeing this has given me inspiration! A mixture perhaps... Just wish I had a place to do it.
Hey Ainsley What an amazing project and one I'm keen to make for myself. I have a bunch of Star Wars Lego models that need better displaying. Very well shot video too. Karl.
My lights were 70mm so I just googled 70mm forstner drill bit and purchased of Ebay. You just want to measure the light and then google a size that will work.
Thank you. I don't at the moment as I'm to busy but if you have something you know with the tools you are welcome to show them the design and see if they can create for you
I didn’t only because where the boxes are you can’t see the back unless your heads up against the wall. But I think I would do them smaller if they would be seen cause I like the minimalist look for sure.
Nice project. Looks great. Your video skills also keep getting better. The only thing i dont like is the dowels. Biscuits or dominoes would be nice for an invisible solution (but both use machines that are expensive (or crazy expensive)).
Hey thank you so much for the kind words. Just try and get better every day. I agree would have loved to go with seem less solutions. Just have to keep saving 😀👍🏼
Hey I just came across your channel today it’s awesome to see another Aussie creator. Two of my favourite things LEGO & woodwork ! Just a quick question what table saw do you use? It’s a bit hard to find a good one in Australia Cheers👍
Great work. I'll be replicating this with IKEA Bestå. Quick question, you mentioned you used a 60mm forstner bit, whereas the vaxmyra lights are 68mm in diameter. How did you get them to fit in the countersunk holes?
Hey you would need to modify the back panel so you could screw it to the wall. The back panel on my design is only 6mm thin and also is the way you access the box. But with modifications could be done 😀
Thank you!! Being plywood I may have been able to get away with it. I just didn’t want to risk it cause the plywood was so expensive and I want it to be standing for a long time 😀👍🏼
Great video as I’ve been looking for ideas for my transformers. One bit of feedback is sometimes the background music is too loud and distracting over your voice.
I used Perspex and cut it on the table saw. I brought a sheet and cut it to size. Perspex can be cut with any woodworking blade so it’s a easy material to work with
Hi Sam I do make and sell the cases. Not sure where you are located. I have never shipped overseas before. I have a minimum order of 3. If you are interested please email me (email is in the about section of my channel. Sorry if I post it here the comment won’t post) your location and we can see if it’s possible. 😃
Not sure about others but for me I think there is danger and things to consider in everything we do. I try to practice good PPE. Not always perfect but try my best.
@@SmallFryCreations I meant off gassing of plywood glued with formaldehyde. But as I said, I just wonder what people think about it these days and if more folks worry about it.
😂😂 if your in Sydney your in lucky. I get it from a place called trade master in granville. They are the cheapest I have found. One downer of being Aussie is the price of plywood!!!
Hi Harrison I do sell the boxes as I think they are an awesome way to show off your lego. Just send me an email to smallfrycreations18@gmail.com or a message in instragram and we can chat further :)
Then unfortunately I couldn't ship. It would be extremely expensive to ship something that big. There are lots of great makers in US I'm sure there would be someone that would be able to make it for you. Appreciate the support.
I have looked into shopping to a couple of places and there isn’t really any good options. Everything is $100’s of dollars. Your best bet is to find a maker close to you and have them make them for you. Sorry
@@SmallFryCreations I think I will build this myself for my warhammer collection. But I think I will put it on a French cleat system to have them mounted to the wall :-)
