Hey your video is great but just curious how many quarts of ATF Trans fluid should I purchase? Planning to change my radiator on my ISF very soon appreciate the help !

U got lucky with the rad busting, mine busted during a road trip sadly...

When you recommend that we keep the condenser+fan shroud attached and removing the unit as one, which step(s) should we skip in the video? Is it the bolts that you're pointing out at 13:18 and 13:26?
@skrrtgarage3922
@skrrtgarage3922 2 года назад
No, at 13:18 that is the condenser. That needs to be separated. I’m talking about is the fan in the backside of the radiator. That can remain attached

Thank you man! Very helpful! Wouldn't you want to fill the trans cooler without both hoses so the air escapes? But you put one hose in and filled it. Wouldn't it push air in the lines? Or will there be enough pressure on the hose line that air will try to escape on where you are filling it?

Also, is it possible to run the stock transmission cooler in series with the new cooler? Like putting it on the other side?
@skrrtgarage3922
@skrrtgarage3922 2 года назад
Yea that might have been better to get a complete fill of the cooler, but it would have been seriously messy lol. Any air pocket will be ventilated by the transmission breather as soon as the car turns on. Yea I think it would be certainly possibly to run both coolers, only possibly issue would be lack of room for a future oil cooler if you got one.

Great detailed video, thank you Question: about the trans cooler, if there is a separate trans cooler mounted on AC condenser then why is the trans fluid routed into main radiator too? Any idea?
@skrrtgarage3922
@skrrtgarage3922 2 года назад
That’s a great question, I would assume it’s there to help the little trans cooler out. I couldn’t tell by looking at the OEM radiator how much of it was for cooling the trans and how much was cooling the coolant either.

@@skrrtgarage3922 running trans oil thru radiator doesn't only cool it on most cars, but also brings it up to operation temperatures quicker from cold starts (for idiot drivers that like to stump on gas as soon as car turns on) water/antifreeze warms up quicker then trans fluid or engine oil. no big deal, just be a bit more conscious of or car. were lucky enough to also have engine oil temp gauge on our speedo's so typically with normal driving trans oil warms up as fast as engine oil. just don't rip on it till your engine oil gauge doesn't at least go up to 2 marks (fully warmed up is 3)

How did you mount the new tranny cooler? I saw you put one zip tie only to support it between the lines,but what else? Thanks!

Do you have to replace the transmission cooler with that radiator you used or can you just leave the OEM cooler in? Just had my radiator start leaking and I don't want to replace the transmission cooler too
@skrrtgarage3922
@skrrtgarage3922 2 года назад
You need to replace it. The OEM radiator cools the trans and the coolant. There is also a smal trans cooler to help the radiator. So you could reuse the small trans cooler but it may not be enough.

Any chance you can let us know how you mounted the cooler? I’m done installing the radiator looks like Jerry rig only on that bigger cooler?

@skrrtgarage3922 yes how did you mount the trans cooler to the car? Would like to see how you managed to complete that.

Question: I have a 08 IS F, when I go check out for Hayden Automotive 678 Rapid-Cool Add-On Transmission Cooler it says it does not fit my vehicle. What year is your F? Did you have any issues? Thanks

I have a 2012 lexus ISF and I’m wondering what coolant to use that’s best and I can’t figure if it’s red or pink?
@skrrtgarage3922
@skrrtgarage3922 2 года назад
I would just stick with pink. It’s a total pain to switch to red and there’s no proof it would help the valley plate leak.

@@skrrtgarage3922 sweet thankyou ! How are you liking the koyo rad and trans cooler setup !? Im going to install mine soon along with the trans cooler but im not going to do the external oil cooler since im not tracking the car. Are you doing the cooler also or just the koyo and the trans cooler only ?
@skrrtgarage3922
@skrrtgarage3922 2 года назад
The setup is amazing bro, the coolant temp is noticeably lower (because of how large the koyorad is). The transmission cooler is probably not the best, I may upgrade the trans cooler in the future. If I take my car to the track and I feel the trans slipping or getting too hot I’ll get a larger cooler. I may do the same to the oil cooler also, I figure if the coolant keeps the temps down I may not need an intense oil cooler. But we will see!

That foam can take the heat??? I'm running around looking for something to use. Long time ago for a heater core I bought. I used coolent tape/ isolation tape. I would tape it down with rinnkles to make taller and then I would put more of the tape on top. Sort of made my own type of cushion. Hope that makes sense😅😂

Why do we have to also buy the transmission oil cooler also???

@skrrtgarage3922 i understand it now. The larger size makes up for it. I bought the one you referred. Thanks man.

Brother I watched your vid cuz I need to do this Job. Well I did it right. But guess what man, mine didn't have a atf cooler. the radiator didn't have lines for it either. I was relieved and shocked. Do you think someone just closed it off or something. I couldn't see any lines any where!!! My is250 is a 2012. Is it build different?
