In this video, I will be installing new flooring in my kitchen. The flooring I chose is LifeProof real hardwood flooring. This flooring is super easy to install and you don't need any fancy tools to make it happen. Check out the video to see how this can be done.

Very nice. I also used Lifeproof in Tupelo oak throughout my house. Very pleased with the results. Lots of compliments from visiting friends.

A rubber mallet or rubber hammer. It works really well but is soft enough to not damage the wood floor.

Hey cool I'm installing this exact type of lifeproof plank. Timber wolf hickory. Absolute beautiful. Hopefully the quality is good.

Awesome video and your floor looks amazing! I have searched multiple places for flooring and brought home over 40 boxes and 20 samples with this one remaining. I am seriously liking the look of it but I have a few concerns. How bad does it show dust, dirt and foot prints? How often does it have to be cleaned? How has it held up with scratches? Have any of the click lock connections opened up? Any ends pop up? I am old school and prefer nailing things down but those options are just not affordable…I appreciate it…

This looks great! Thank you for the tutorial! I'll be installing these floors next week and I have a question for you. We have a large island in the middle of our kitchen. Would you install floors first and then use a multi-tool to cut out the space for the island, or would you install the island first and do all the cuts around it? This will be my first time installing flooring so I'd love your advice!

Great video thank you. Is it just the light, but some of the panels are lighter and some darker...is this normal?

Very informational video! Some of the comments on homedepot were that the floor does not click together easily and there are larger gaps between the planks? How was your experience with the install and floor so far ? I appreciate the effort !
@SimonSaysDIY
@SimonSaysDIY Год назад
So far it’s been great. No problems with the floors so far. We didn’t really have too much of an issue getting it to snap together. I think it’s key to have a rubber mallet to help in persuading it to snap together if needed. Have a designated hammering block so you don’t mess up the tongue and groove for the next row. Good luck! :)

Hey, how is the floor holding up so far? Thinking of going with this option as well. Thank you!!!

It is actually holding up really well. At our house the kitchen is a big part of our day to day lives. We use it very heavily and with my wife and I, 2 kids, and a cat it has held up really well. I will say because it is real wood on the top layer, It can still scratch like a hard wood floor, so you don't want to drag or slide things across it or it may leave scratches. It is still waterproof and is staying together nicely.

Hello! Thank you for the informative video! My husband and I are about to undertake an installation of this product in another color and we noticed the box and the installation instructions inside the box had conflicting information regarding the expansion gap (1/2" on box, 1/4" on instructions). I was wondering what you used for your expansion gap. And - I see it was still holding up well a couple of months ago - I'm assuming you've had no big disasters with it since then? :) Thanks!
@SimonSaysDIY
@SimonSaysDIY 2 года назад
Hey Kat, I saw that too... I tried to aim for at least 1/4 expansion gap and if it was a little more I was fine with that. You just want to make sure whatever molding you are using to cover that gap is wide enough so that the gap never shows. We haven't had any movement on the floor and no issues with expansion so I am not sure if a larger gap would ever be needed. The floor has been great. Its holding up really well. We try not to slide any furniture across the floor as it is real wood on the surface and can scratch like hardwood floors. If furniture is on it I would recommend using felt furniture pads to protect the floor. Hope that helps! :)

It’s holding up really well. No issues so far. I will say because the top is real wood it can be scratched like typical hard wood floors if furniture is slidden on the floor without felt pads. Hope that helps! :)

Wow, I didn't know you could score and snap engineered wood just like LVP! I was considering buying a pro guillotine style cutter and then sell it after my one large job. Would you do a whole house this way?
@SimonSaysDIY
@SimonSaysDIY 2 года назад
Glad the video was helpful! We love the floor and it has held up really well! I will say because it is real wood you need to be careful not to scratch it by sliding furniture across the floor. You can get the felt pads for the furniture feet to prevent scratches.

I just bought these I thought they're luxury vinyl but it's actually wood on top. It's called engineering wood not luxury vinyl. Is it going to last? It says it's waterproof.

Pretty good. It has held together really well and hasn’t shifted. Seems to be waterproof. My 3 year old slid something across the floor and left a large scratch. We were able to basically buff out the scratch and it’s not noticeable. Because it’s real wood it seems to be softer and easily scratched.

It’s holding up really well. It is real wood on the top layer so it can be scratched or dented. You will want to avoid dragging or sliding anything on it. However, with a three year old, toddler, and a cat it still looks great. Our cat spills his water on it all the time and has been waterproof so far. Thanks!

How is the flooring holding up. It says it’s scratch proof and waterproof. Any Comments on this would be great,!
@SimonSaysDIY
@SimonSaysDIY 2 года назад
Water proof, yes. Scratch proof, no. I would say it is resistant to scratches but my three year old was able to put a scratch in it but because it is real wood on the surface a bit of Old English wood made the scratch disappear. Over all, very impressed with the floor. It has held up really well in our kitchen. It is real wood on the surface so similar to hardwood flooring you want to be careful not to slide heavy furniture on it without felt or rubber feet. Thanks!

No underpayment?
@SimonSaysDIY
@SimonSaysDIY 2 года назад
No, I chose not to this type of flooring has a mat on the bottom of each board that is similar to the underlayment products. Also, without the underlayment, this flooring matched up perfectly to the elevation of the connecting floors so I didn't want to add any thickness to this floor. The floor has held up really well so far :)
@anotherbutt4chair56
@anotherbutt4chair56 2 года назад
@@SimonSaysDIY , thank you for reply, it’s so confusing with underlayment, being recommended by others, then at Home Depot was told Not to use any underlayment, but at the same time? Home Depot is selling Lifeproof underlayment, among other brands like quiet walk. Either way I have a few squeaks and leveling to do.
