when you put the new TPS on did you reset the computer ? you unplug the postive cable feom the battery and touch it to a ground source wait 30 seconds then hook the battery cable back on to the battery then turn key to on position and at same time turn headlights on and wait for buzzer to shut off or count to 10 . then shut lighrs and ignition off . then start jeep it should fix the issue if not check the 3 wires that plug into the TPS . softly jiggle them and see if the engine idles up or cuts out . also check for leaky plug wires or boots . see my video on how to do that

Hay mr mopar man I have a 1999 grand Cherokee limited 4.0 straight 6 I put a starter on it I turn the key and it just click I think it's the ground because before i had to turn the battery cables to start it can you tell me the problem if you could thank you

@MoparMan-ff8fb 2 года назад
yes make sure you battery post that the clamps bolt to are clean . use a battery brush and clean the post up till it looks almost shiny. then make sure the wires going to the battery clamps are clean and the battery clamps them selves need to be cleaned down to bare metal so the wires going to the clamps have a good contact surface . there is a cheap tool that has 2 different brushes on it for cleaning both battery terminals and the inside of the clamps . if you dont have good clean tight connections to the battery it will cause hard starts, a drain on the battery , not charging properly or will just cause the starter to click but not start the vehicle . Also make sure the battery is good . oreillys and autozone do free test . Also this may sound wierd but an old timer told me to put a small amount of vasoline on the battery connections it will melt and coat the parts and keep the connections from corroding up .😎🏁✌

Hey brother. Long shot here but no running lights on the 96 jeep xj. Checked the ground by the spare tire but it looked ok. I replaced the 7.5 fuse under the driver side fuse box and no luck. most of your lights are controled by the head light switch including the dash lights . I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherrokee. I have had some major work done to get it running. I cut out on me on the freeway and then later, after parking, the truck would not start. Now I have a new harmonic balancer, new battery, new plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor and evap cannister. I ran better but cut out on me and then started back up. It seems to be running good now. Now the center console info unit and my radio decided to not work. Repair shop it would involve taking the console/dash out, testing connections and would cost upwards of 8-9 hundred dollars for a used/u-pull it unit. There have never been problems with that. I did install a new horn, but it decided not to work and the High setting on my air/ac switch decided not to work. my problem is am on a limited budget, which has been exceeded, and I am physically unable to do major work, especially under the vehicle. Sorry for rambling but any suggestions of the sudden shut down of the console info screen and radio? Horn...fuses are fine and wiring is fine. AC switch ... randomly decides to work then does not, with the rest of the switch setting working ok

I would check the connections to see if one is loose even if it looks solid . I had 2 wires loose inside a tube crimp connector would cause my 65 dart to randomly shut off . as far as the power to make the engine cut out check all the factory ground connections on the wiring harnesses . on my moms 96 sport the factory just used a sheet metal screw to anchor the ground wires on the body in differnt places . I did a video on the grounds issue and fix . we alsonhad an issue with the pump in the gas tank . bad gas is another one dont stop at gas stations when the tanker truck is there or was there . it stirs up the water off the bottom of the tank for moisture accumulating from the air . use the highest % of rubbing alcohol you can get and a add a pint to the fuel when you fill up . it mixes with the gas/ and possible water in bottom of tank and helps move it out and keeps it from freezing during the winter months. I also did a video on a smaller fuel filter to use instead of the big factory barrel filter to help stop fuel starvation

Cranks over fast, has 180 compression across the board, has fuel pressure, has spark. Changed out distributor, plug wires, plugs, tps, icv, cps. Also checked the main grounds in the engine bay on dipstick and firewall to head, also connections on terminals. Sometimes it does click when you try and start it like a fully auto machine gun but with clicks. Any ideas? Thx

Hi mate, I have a 99 that keeps throwing a TPS code. I have replaced the TPS, the code went away for about a week, then came back. It doesn’t matter what I do, I can’t seem to clear it. Any ideas?
@MoparMan-ff8fb
@MoparMan-ff8fb 2 года назад
when we where having an issue with the TPS and replaced it we would have random issues . run your vehicle up to operating temps and lightly jiggle the 3 wires that connect to the TPS. If it causes the engine miss or cut out you found the problem . I had to careful and take appart the connector and unlock one wire from the connector and remove an 1/8th of an inch of insulation from the wire . then had to be careful and solder the back of the factory metal connector where it's crimped to the wire its self with out burning or stressing out the wire. then after it cooled off and reinstalled it . had to do this to all 3 wires. Also check all your ground connections inside the engine bay see my video if you haven't? try unplugging the positive battery cable and take the cable and ground it to a bare metal bracket or engine bolt or the AC compressor. ground for 30 seconds then clamp it back on to the battery and go and turn key to on position but don't start and at same time flip on head light and count to 10 if no buzzer. shut lights and key off wait 2 seconds and start and see if check engine light goes off and see if jeep runs better

@officialWWM 2 года назад
@@MoparMan-ff8fb awesome, thanks for your help, I’ll give it a try. I should also mention that I also had an airbag light and no horn, so I replaced the clockspring. After I replaced the clockspring, the tps light went out! Turns out they share the same earth so sometimes a faulty clockspring can trip a check engine light that reads as a tps fault. Problem is, a week later, the tps fault is back and the car is running like crap 🤔

Before changing the in tank fuel pump, just try putting a fuel one way check valve in the fuel pressure line. Just in case you are experiencing fuel pressure drop to the injectors. As the fuel check valve is built into the fuel pressure regulator on top of the fuel tank.

I don't wanna argue about it. Just inform. Google permatex dielectric grease and read the description. As a crane technician it's horrible. Wish they didn't sell it. Cause it is misconstrued as it'll help the connection. If ya wanna keep moisture out make the connection and spray it heavy with silicone spray and if you use crimp on connections use heat shrink and a cheap heat gun. Manitowoc and Grove and Potain all use all white wires so anytime I see dielectric grease I get a can of electrical degreaser and remove it and maybe 4 or 5 outta 10 times it solves the problem/s.
