Awesome video. Felt like a mechanic for 6 minutes... for the love of God, I have been trying for 2+hours trying to reattach 1/3 air tube valves thing (the RE one) in my '06 E350. The L1 went back on like a glove and the other adjacent one is the problem Child. The tube cannot grasp the hole- it'll overgrab one-end and leave a crevice at the other end; Then when I readjust to make it fit , it'll switch to the lower half, never flush. It has an indents on half the cylinder, not the other. I cannot defeat it. Some RU-vid legend from 2003 save my soul 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you for this video. I was able to replace the filters in my wife's 2011 ML350 in about 15 minutes. Before watching this I was not sure how to remove and replace the housing. Also, I had purchased two Fram CA8768 filters for a total of about $40. They worked fine.
You should have washed that ENGINE COVER before putting new filter and replacing it ... that is what i plan to do. Thanks so much for the video ! you are my HERO
The Mercedes is a dream to work on if you have good parts and good information. In this case they used captive screws for the 8 torx screws on the filter cover. Makes the job a little easier.
Mercedes is ALWAYS the top of the line! The labor is extensive just for a simple service. That's why the dealer charges $350.00 for a service. I ALWAYS use full Synthetic, and top quality filters. It's the life -blood of your engine!
Just did this today. Thanks for the video. Just as easy as you made it out to be. Although I'm pretty sure I had four clips. One fell off when I went to place the cover back and bow there are three.
2008 R350 has a tower type brace that must be removed before you try to unclip the rear retainer clip..no big deal..four bolts......thanks for the video...very helpful.
filters net vervangen door K&N filters. Met dit filmpje was ik goed geholpen. Had anders niet geweten hoe ik er moest aan beginnen. Ongeveer 20 min gewerkt. Super. Mercedes SL 350 (R230 engine) 315 hp.
I changed my R350 air filter after watching your video. had to ho buy s tork socket but after that it was so easy! I did find an almond that the old filter had stopped entering the engine. yikes!
And with one hand only...nice! I'm planning to purchase my 1st Benz and searching for any w212 maintenance video. It seems very easy compare to my imports.
Mercedes makes the best quality air intake. The only bad thing is taking more time to remove it. Just like the battery under the passenger seat which MB dealer charge $150 labor to replace the battery on my vehicle (the battery itself is $350). This is why DIY save money.
I actually put this on your break pads video but Can you please show how to change engine air filter on 2012 W166 ML350? I just can’t seem to find a single video that’s clear and concise. There are cabin and predust air filters though but an engine air filter for a 2012 ML350 is desperately needed!
My 2012 E350 4matic looks nothing like this. The air filter chamber is on the left side of the engine, with three T25 screws on the top. Two I can get out, but there's not enough clearance to get the third one out. There seems to be a clip on the bottom front, and there's probably one at the back, but not any clearance to reach it. There are two star bolts that seem to hold the filter to the engine, but I didn't want to start taking them out if it wasn't necessary. Any suggestions?
+nyspec I can only hope that this problem was solved by now. In case anyone else needs to know how to remove the air filter on the M276 engines, take those 3 T25 torx screws out to the point they release and the entire housing tilts to the right(left when facing the engine) and lifts out. Just remember to remove the the plastic fresh air snorkel in front. Just break the rear screw loose with a 1/4 T25 socket and I usually just turn it with pliers from that point.
Mars Star don't come on but your fuel efficiency is going to drop sense cars are fuel injected it is highly recommended to replace air filter and also cabin filter on any car.
that would be the "engine control unit". it's like the engine's brain, all engine sensor data goes to it, and it controls almost all aspects of the engine, such as intake air flow, cam timing, fuel injection, and ignition timing.
Did you see where the clip for the filter is in the vid? Look for that clip then look next to it the dip stick has a yellow handle. I do my own oil cahnge on this car it's super easy.
Really? It's actually well designed and engineered and therefore not as BUBA Simple like a 59 chevy or something. First it needs to fit under that low hood, probably a very important factor of the design, plus look at the area of those two filters... more than most early V8s or even similar sized engines in other cars today, it needs to breath you know. Plus this is probably a once a year or so maintenance item. At least it's not an oil bath breather.
