I'd love to buy patterns from you! I've once created a dress from a yt video and the girl was selling the pattern on Etsy you make it once and potentially is a great passive income because then when someone purchase it you only have to send the files with the pattern! Please let me know if you'll sell them in the future
It's been a while tbh! I believe it was 120cm wide and I had about two meters of it, but for this short dress 150cm should be enough (as long as you don't choose to cut on the bias)
Thank you! The fabric is from a UK online store called Fabric Godmother, they have beautiful deadstock fabrics. It’s been one of my go-to stores for a while!
Hi I am trying to make this dress, but one thing that I don’t understand is that when I make the pattern for the front piece of the dress the skirt bit,my hip circumference Is shorter that the edge of the top bodice angled line part. So instead of the pattern going out it goes in at the dotted line. Can you please help me or someone.
Hi, I am not sure I understand your question, but I have a pattern for this dress on my Etsy shop now in case you're interested :) Here is the link: thrillsandstitches.etsy.com/uk/listing/1613893983/sally-perfect-beginner-slip-dress-pdf
OMG thank you so much for replying, what I mean is once I have marked the bottom bit of the bust piece on my pattern paper ( the like angled line), u said to measure 1/4 of ur hip circumference but when I do, the bust piece is bigger than my 1/4 of hip circumference so my pattern goes in at the dashed hip line instead of out like urs I don’t have a clue what I am doing wrong
Like for example let’s say the (bottom) of my bust pattern from earlier on in the video (the angled line) is 37 cm . but then getting 1/4 of my hip circumference for example is 101cm and a quarter of that is like 25.25. So instead of the hip circumference being bigger than the slanted line of the bust piece it us smaller. As the slanted line is bigger than my hip circumference when ur pattern isn’t
Hi so, if I understand correctly that means that your hips are smaller than your bust proportionally. In that case I would make the skirt straight, meaning from your under bust line, just go straight down and transfer the width to your hip line. Maybe add 2cm wiggleroom for movement.
This dress is so perfect, especially considering this amazing London summer we are having! The fabric is something else too- the double floral effect 😍
I had a question- do you have to have special kinds of pins to be able to sew over them? Or can you use any regular pins? I'm just paranoid about trying it in case I break a needle/ my machine!! 😜
Thanks Chantal ☺️🌸 I get that question a lot actually! I place my pins perpendicular to the seam I‘m about to sew, and usually everything is fine and nothing breaks… I even learned that in fashion school 😅 that being said, I had a needle break like this a few weeks ago, but it was the first one in a really long time, and it was a very fine silk needle (probably a 60 or 70)
