This dress is SO beautifully designed. In my humble opinion, a dropped waist is a hard feature to make look both flattering and modern and you just nailed it! I love the proportions of it.

Lovely pattern! Is there an easy way to cover the zipper tape on the inside so that it isn't against the skin? Also, do you have a pattern for the black square/high neck top you are wearing?
@ThrillsandStitches
@ThrillsandStitches 7 дней назад
Yes! If you choose the fitted back (vs the shirred one) you can overturn the shell and lining and hide the zipper in between. Unfortunately no pattern for the top, it’s Zara.

I like it a lot with the full circle skirt. Its lovely as always. How many meters of fabric did you use?
@ThrillsandStitches
@ThrillsandStitches 7 дней назад
Thank you! Almost 4 meters because I made the skirt extra long. You should be able to get by with 300cm (without lining) and 350cm for a lined bodice.

Very nice pattern. Although the front panel doesn't look that good in this soft fabric. I'll try to make this one in stiffer fabric with a bit less gathers. Maybe rising the cutt-off line round the hips will help as well to hide my belly a bit more 😊

My girlfriend has asked me to make her a dress for a film award ceremony and your page is the only page I've settled on. I watched your video on how to create a bodice and it was so detailed and simple. I scoured the internet and thought about starting my own page because shit was so confusing, then I found your page. Looks like you've already filled that gap. We may be competitors in the future... I love your work and energy. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got part 2 to watch.

I loved the vlog style video. It’s so fun seeing behind the scenes. You talked about potentially making the Selena jumpsuit a pattern in the fall. I don’t know if you ever thought about making your green corduroy jumpsuit you made three years ago a pattern, but it would be so cool if you did. ❤

It is very tough every time! I do donate, and I usually go for the things I wear the least, even when they’re beautifully made. I also sometimes give makes to friends.

I been organizing and it's been slower than snail races. My patterns are organized and put into 9 inch by 11 inch manila envelopes with at least a hand written description. Some have the pattern front on it and the yardage on the back. My basic block pieces are going on tagboard to hang in the closet. I started the process. Now the hard one, my sewing table looks like a war zone. So my machines are on the dining table I work there from time to time. Going to do a bit by bit with the sewing table and get the thread racks onto the wall finally. Am still working on walking again.

It can be hard and slow. For me it’s mostly about getting myself to do it, once I’m there it’s often done much faster than I’d thought! But it sounds like you have a great system in place 🪡👏

You're so organised! 😍 It was very cool to also go down memory lane and see some of your older patterns. So keen for the Selena Jumpsuit to be released on your Etsy account! Glad you've had a break and enjoyed being home in Austria, but selfishly I'm glad you're back making videos. Any possibility of making a Dirndl or modern interpretation of a traditional regional Austrian style?

very nice video I enjoyed it very much 😊Good organization is always instant satisfaction hhh. I organise my patterns in envelopes with pic of me wearing it, then other sewing patterns separate also in envelope and if they are too big then I have them hanging with printed picture so I can easily find what I"m looking for. I"m exited to see what will be your next pattern. ☺

Elisa, though I'm just now seeing this video, I realize it was produced a year ago. That said, for what it's worth, here are my comments. I agree, a less prone to wrinkle fabric besides linen should have been used; perhaps a crepe. However, you chose linen to counteract the heat and any fabric besides cotton would make you perspire. My suggestion would have been to apply lining to the top like you did the skirt; the extra layer may have acted like a stabilizer. If lining had been used, you might have also considered using a super lightweight, flexible fusible interfacing on both the skirt and top. Some are so featherweight and drapey that its use may have preserved what you like about linen and mitigated what you don't like about linen. Also, pressing both items with medium-weight starch might have helped stave off some of the wrinkles. Finally, I think the blouse could have benefited from one more side tab on each side. That extra stabilizer may have prevented the top from folding and crinkling with every move. I hope you try both patterns again using a satin-backed crepe, because the patterns are quite clever.

Thanks for sharing your failures and challenges as much as the pieces that are stunning successes. I have yet to sew with sequined fabric, though I have bought it three times. Your video helped me learn its limitations in application. I had never considered how my skin would interact with the fabric. Also, the how a voluminous strapless dress design could be altered by the sheer weight of all the layers. What would be pretty is to salvage all that work by separating the bodice from the skirt and wearing the skirt during the fall holiday season. Then, i would deconstruct the corset top, and replace the side panels wear your arms constantly touch & rub against the garment with velvet or wool crepe or silk Duchess satin. Then reassemble the corset. I think the finished garment would preserve and reflect the cleverness of your design. It might also make the front and back sequin panels really pop because they're framed by a simpler fabric. Of course discard this idea if you find the suggestion offensive. Again I think you're a clever, ambitious sewist. I too like to push myself in both skill and application. Watching you retackle this garment to construct a pieces that could be used because they are comfortable and attractive, would be a video from which we could all learn. Thanks so much for sharing! I am a new subscriber. I really enjoy your productions.
