Great book for a beginner . ru-vid.comUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ this book really starts from the beginning, as in it explains what basic tools are and how to use them. But when it gets to the art of creating joints and how and when to use them this book really starts to teach you something. At least that was my experience.
I like the overall design and look of the platform. I would put some time into rounding edges as others have mentioned. Also those plywood corners are going to mar the floor without something to cushion them.
Would you be interest to make a rollover design from this first concept later on ? The backside frame legs/floor supports could be cut in a radius form for the whole aseembly to fold up like a rocking chair, independent from the wall entirely with a mechanism provided at the upper wall side catching it with a latch push- in mechanism used in campervan conversions on above head cupboards. i think there was an overly priced lean/minimalist design firm simply selling this type of stand alone frames simply folded up to the wall without any carcass/frame box attached to the wall
Listen people..... This is a pretty design. But when two average size and weight people get to rocking, the bed probably won't be able to handle the weight. Which was evident by the need to add additional support under the bed.
Thanks for mentioning the mask. I heard about it awhile back, but couldn't remember the name. I'm in the process of buying my first house and looking forward to using your projects as inspiration to build my own furniture. Thanks for the awesome channel.
Amazing design. I really dig the triangle legs. But please be careful when matching the size of the mattress with size of the bed. A mattress too small does look awkward and the bed platform will definitely hurt your legs.
could you do a murphy bed that doesn't have a cabinet? I love the idea of a murphy bed but don't like it being obvious that it's a murphy bed by having the big box on the wall that it folds into. I was thinking maybe the locking mechanism could be on the side tables next to the bed or in a shelf that is flush above the bed when folded up.
In the UK using 4x2 and 3/4 inch ply is preferred? Both essential stock items. Different video, making a bed which lasts a lifetime, in 90 minutes with hand tools only.
I just love the modern look of this bed! I would love to make this for my son, just curious, how many sheets of plywood did it take to build this? Looking forward to seeing the plans on your website. Thank you for sharing this build!
If you built it to have a 6 inch reveal all the way around, then why do your build directions have it at 68" wide? A queen would then only have a 4" reveal. Just wanted to double check if you had any thoughts or other comments on that. It's a cool design. I am personally doing it with the headboard supports flat on the ground.
Looks awesome, as always! 💜 I’d love to see your spin on a storage bed with hydraulic springs! We have an old IKEA Malm bed which would be awesome to salvage the springs from and create a more modern cool looking bed!
Great i idea for people like me that have a little bit of sleep apenea. I sleep better on an incline like a lazy boy chair, and the inclined head board looks like it would work for me. Might be just the thing
What type of metal legs were used on the bed from the first 10 seconds? I like that look better. I’d like to use those legs to support the headboard but all I can find are the standard hairpin legs.
Is there a way to do this so I could tilt it up on the head during the day, like a murphy bed? I live in a 350 square foot studio apartment in Berlin. Some more space would be amazing!
I've been planning on making a head board or of left over hardwood flooring that I have with a plywood backer.... Debating on whether I make it super wide to include some sort of night stand/Table on each side or not. Also, reading lights?!
I’ve done something similar. Simple fix: use the no-skid carpet grippers that go under area rugs. Got an 8’x10’ for $20 at the local big box and stapled it to the platform.
@homemademodern Hi guys, love the work. Can you perhaps try and make a Murphy bed without a mechanism like the "Lori wall bed" style. It would be great. Thanks
That's why you leave those spaces between the slats. The mattress will sink in and it will not slip. Also at end of the mattress at the feet side you can screw a 3/4 inch by 1 inch ply or mdf strip that will prevent sliding.
