CORRECTION: at 10:26 you need to sew the stitches onto the OTHER side of the strap ☺ (oops!). Other than that, I hope this tutorial has been helpful and I'd love to see these tops posted to Instagram with #diyannika! 😘

Annika Victoria, Even if it did take you a few times,I'm so proud of you!!! You got the pattern exactly there on the brown one. I used to make tops like that for myself back in the 70's,when I was a teen. Dresses are really cute with the drop shoulders too, maybe you could do one of those later. Plus a long sleeved version is beautiful in velvet for the winter. It's that pattern that you make renisance under dresses too. It's a really versatile pattern. I love your videos, it's almost like looking back in time for me,I went thru the same processes making tons of my own clothes.

A tip so you don't forget the space for the elastic: I usually put my pins in a cross shape where I want to keep this open space, that way when I see the odd pin placement I know I have to stop. Hope this helps! I love how easy and customizable this project is, I want to make a lot of them in a long version (crop tops are not my thing), you can even make a dress! If anyone wants to try the long version the only 2 things that would change will be that you'll have to add another rectangle at the bottom (wider than your hips so you can move) and at the "waist" you'll have to make a channel with bias tape. Thanks so much for the inspiration Annika! Now I wanna go and make tons of summer dresses and shirts xD

Imagine this paired up with a matching skirt!!! So cute!! Annika, I'd like to thank you for this channel. At first I started watching you because I like watching English speakers from different places so I'd practice my listening skills, but your videos became so much more to me. I'm now aware of fast fashion and all the problems with it and I truly want to start making my own clothes, or at least try. Me and my mom are saving for a machine and supplies and I'm super excited for it. So thank you so much! I follow you on social media and I appreciate how you put yourself through keeping doing this videos even with all the problems you face. YOU ROCK GIRL! KEEP BEING AWESOME!

Annika! You have talked a lot in the past about fast fashion and ethical purchasing of clothes (a cause I would love to support!) but I don't really know anything about it. Would you ever consider making a video about it? I don't mean to be ~that~ person, but could y'all like this if you'd like to see that?

fury One day, you'll be 80 and looking back on your life. You won't have danced in the waves on the each because your thighs jiggled, and won't have worn that top because it showed your tummy, and you will have been so strung up on perfection you weren't able to have a wonderful, colorful life. Don't let that happen. this is a shortened version of a beautiful quote I found one day. it Really resonated with me. I hope it can inspire you as it did me.

row roblox show you could combine techniques from several tutorials to make something really cute! like,for example, you could lengthen her mock turtleneck crop top to make it full length and add some cute Bell sleeves. It'd look cute af with leggings and one of her diy pinafores ;)

A good fix for the shoulder is to measure around above your shoulders or to just sew the arm pieces at a higher angle and longer length
@amicarter8476
@amicarter8476 6 лет назад
If you want this style of top to cover your shoulders you just need to measure the sleeve length longer (you could do full length from top of shoulder to wrist) but don't forget to make the armpit inseam 'cut out' go all the way up the sleeve too... Then when you add the elastic, simply gather it up more to maje the neckline smaller so it sits on top of your shoulders

A great tip to help you remember to leave a gap for your casing is to put double pins at each side of the gap. Those double pins are like road signs telling you something's different here, and you'll stop and remember why.

Just dug through my mom's fabric collection in the basement and got a large quantity of woven fabric in a blue floral print that would be perfect for this project! And I definitely have enough that if I screw up I can try again. Also I found this Hawaiian shirt type fabric but only a really small amount so I gotta figure out what to do with that but I'm excited to get sewing.

To remember gap :: when im pinning the caseing i put a pin long ways in the place where the gap goes. ... so while pinning i place all normal pins verticly then one horizontally where the gap goes

I'm so applying that song when I'm sewing..."right side to right side, don't forget to back stitch, take your time to do it right or you'll have to seam rip" 😂😂😂

FYI : I suggest not tearing the fabric as it will tear on a thread line and if fabric cut a bit off the actual weave lines (which I always do) you will loose your rectangle. Plus tearing stretches fabric and most will cut off the torn end. I only tear fabric to get a straight line with the fabric's true weave when I think any shrinkage my cause twisting such as with pants and sleeves. Anyways....what a GREAT idea. Just loved it and easy to follow. Plus, it is so practical to wear. Thanks so much.

I just finished mine and I love it! to avoid the weird bit at the back, I moved the center seam to the back and then made the back pieces a bit smaller. I'm already planning my next one!
