Watch the UPDATED VIDEO!!! CLICK HERE: • DIY Pathway with wood ...
It's time to stop dragging mud from our #pathway onto the deck and into the house. Building up this 40 foot run along the south side of our yard was something we had been putting off due to the cost of concrete and or pavers.
The idea of building a wood #walkway never really crossed my mind until recently when I watched a few videos online. The warm feeling of a wood pathway some how resonated with me in this area of the yard. I had always had my heart set on concrete or pavers but they can be a bit dull looking.
I know a wood pathway won't last as long as concrete but on this side of the house it will be sheltered from a lot of the seasonal elements. My prediction is it should last about 10 years and who knows where we will be at that point in life. If we are still in this house then I guess Ill redo it at that time.

An interesting idea ,one sure to beat slugging in the mud and to really help drainage You are honest you do seem to make things just a little harder than they could be I think I would begin by shooting a line with a transit I understand some have limited tools ,so perhaps run a string line and dig the trough BEFORE laying down the tracks I understand the second time is usually easier I would also use the wood treatment as someone else mentioned before laying down your walk boards Much easier chore sitting on saw horses and then you can treat top bottom and edges really well I might just soak them in a pan get it done quick and easy But here around my place I find that water seal to be of little use deterring termites or rot Good move NOT using treated lumber on the walk way it has such a tenancy to bow up and check and bow so bad And I would countersink and plug my screw holes with buttons that would give a great look There was a "non organic " decking product advertised as I was watching that might work great Great job you did at solving a problem One might ask if I have so many ideas ,why not make my own post ....Hey I just build things with my hands Im not smart enough to work a camera Ohhh nest time I would dern sure take that gate down to cut the bottom and perhaps top off

i've got a mud trail along my back fence and have been struggling to some up with a solution that will stand up to a 70 lb dog running up and down it several times a day. This might be it. I hope you were ok at the end of the day. We've all done it.

I don’t like introducing a lot of rocks around a garden, but I do like the boardwalk. Can you suggest a different base pad for the wood beams?
@DIYBuilt
@DIYBuilt Год назад
All I could suggest would be to use composite in place of wood beams, a bit more expensive but would last longer
