And then put everything in the ground? That should work too. And it will indeed be a confirmation that everything is securly in place. While doing that, you can even screw the empty buckets to the wood as well. That way you'll be sure they wont come loose either!
@BarRookie
@BarRookie 5 лет назад
I don't think that will be stable enough. You would want a larger base for that. The smallest amount of swing will make the construction fall over. Unless you have very large buckets that are also very wide.

@BarRookie
@BarRookie 3 года назад

I just installed a 4x4 post with a 1 and a quarter inch outer diameter black iron bar that I painted with forest green Rust-Oleum enamel. My bar is about 9 ft above the ground. The posts were a little bit wobbly but I fixed that by attaching a set of dip bars to one of the posts. The other side is attached to my porch. And because I am only about five foot seven in, I installed climbing holds up the side of the post. Sometimes using the holds to get up to the bar is the funnest part.
@BarRookie

I used a flat self cut wood drill. But you can also use a forstner bit or a hole saw bit. Depends on what you have laying around. If you need to buy stuff, the hole saw bit is more versatile. Make sure to take the diameter of your bar.

cement in buckets and around buckets?
@MrSchwa-jz6tb
@MrSchwa-jz6tb 6 лет назад
In the buckets and around. You fill the whole bucket with cement to anchor the poles, then you fill around the bucket to anchor the anchor. It depends though how wide the whole is. You probably just want a bucket to fill the whole so it fits snug and you don't buy/waste more cement than necessary.

It was wobbly when you only tapped it with your hand :( Need solid construction. What will stop the metal bar spinning?
@BarRookie
@BarRookie 5 лет назад
Yes indeed. The thing that I would to differently (and which I did in my own house), is to use thicher wood. More like 14 by 14 cm. This will make it a lot sturdier. The way to stop the bar from spinning is by drilling the holes just big enough. Then you need to really squeeze the bar into it. And when the wood expands it will tighten it. You can also just put a bolt into it. Hope that helps!

:D Van waar precies?

Nice job! Did you know you can save alot of work by pouring the dry cement in the hole, than add the water and mix a bit with a stick.
@BarRookie
@BarRookie 7 лет назад
Thanks! No I did not :o. Is it as good as mixing it upfront?
@readGodsword
@readGodsword 7 лет назад
yes. I have sunk alot of fence posts. Works just as well. Pour some water in the hole, than some cement, mix with a stick or scrap of rebar, and keep going till you fill it. Try not to breathe it in or get it on your hands, its not good for you. :-) Nothing to clean up either!

Thanks for the tip man, it will get handy someday :D There are always things that could have done better afterwards. Yes I noticed, it really dries out you skin. Did you made your own pull up bar as well?

I am about to buy the stuff to make one, just looking to get ideas, the height on yours looks perfect, but I think I will do two chin up bars, one for me, one taller for my hubby and probably two parallel too, why not? My grandson can hang on the short ones! Will be great for some upper body strength. Where are you two from by the way?

Why do the wooden bars start to shift back in forth, happens everytime once a year in my training camp. Could it be the weather?
@BarRookie
@BarRookie 6 лет назад
I can't tell, is it always during the type of weather that they shift back and forth?

caps on end? how stop spinning?
@BarRookie
@BarRookie 6 лет назад
The caps are for preventing that things get into the bar, like bugs and stuff. For us spinning was not an issue because it was a very tight fit. If you find your bar spinning, you can put a bolt trough the wood and the bar.

Brandon Burrows Have you tried asking around? Maybe some people have a decent pipe laying around or some wood. This can help to shave some dollars off the price. A door pull up bar is also a great thing to have, definitely cheaper and more portable. However, you can do less tricks on them.

What is the exact diameter of the steel bar you used? Thank you
@BarRookie
@BarRookie 8 лет назад
+Italo Cornejo 3/4 inch (about 19mm) but a full inch bar will work just fine too :D
@BarRookie
@BarRookie 8 лет назад
I would lie if I told you I know the answer! To be honest, I prefer 1 to 1 1/4 inch (I = Blond guy xD ). None the less, 3/4 inch is still decent! It is really up to your personal preference.
@chico7695
@chico7695 8 лет назад
+BarRookie There is inside diameter and outside diameter im pretty sure 3/4 inch is the inside just like my bar.
@chico7695
@chico7695 8 лет назад
+Chico Dermendzhiev The outer diameter of mine is 1.25
@BarRookie
@BarRookie 8 лет назад
Chico Dermendzhiev Yes I think it is indeed the inner diameter (3/4 inch). Just measured it and the outer diameter is 1 inch. But again, it is all about personal preference.

I had to give the video a dislike. The process wasn’t explained thoroughly enough. What type of coating do you use? What is the name of it etc.
@BarRookie
@BarRookie 6 лет назад
Hey man, I'm dorry I disappointed you! If you want additional information feel free to ask! The coating we used for in the ground was black tar (apparently that's what its called). Shoot if you have more questions!

@BarRookie

But you cant do pull ups out side with it. Nor can you do muscle ups. Though a doorway pull up bar is great to have none the less 💪
