Here's the thing: The concrete will eat away the treated wood over time (something to do with the acidity/alkalinity of concrete). They'll last a lot longer if you wrap the posts with some thin, durable plastic before putting them in the ground and pouring concrete around them. Also, while putting dry concrete into the hole and then adding water works, after a while it disintegrates because it can never be mixed right that way. Just a couple thoughts from the construction guy ... if you want posts that last twice as long.

I have wanted an old school bar like we had in the parks and playground decades ago. I ditched that idea when I saw the costs! Then I found your video! Well done camara and narration! I still do OCRs at 66 and you can't have too much grip strength. Pull ups build so many areas that you need to climb over wall and other fun stuff! Thanks for the idea!!

Happy to hear you enjoyed the video! OCRs sound like a ton of fun! We would love to try that someday. If you’re looking for a low cost solid build, this is the ticket. Easier way. Dig the holes, set and plumb posts. Pour concrete dry into holes and tamp in layers with poles vertical and parallel. Bring concrete to about 2 inches from surface. Pour water on concrete and cover with dirt, pour more water to wet dirt. Leave 2 days. Drill level holes thru posts for bar, then drill 1/4" holes thru post AND bar the other way. Use long 1/4" bolt thru to pin and stop rotation and secure bar from sliding out (only need to do one side) Use 3/4" or 1" pipe your choice. Tape pipe to aid grip if needed. Drill additional holes at different levels as needed.

Looks good! I would have went straight to the hardware store to get the right size socket. Probably would have taken longer depending on how far a store is to you but at least you have the socket for next time. Edit: Now do a dip bar. Maybe you can add on to what you got. Thanks for the video.

Question: Will this bar be strong enough for weighted pullups? I am 200 lbs and I am doing pullups with +30 lbs and I want to eventually do pullups with +200. How strong is this bar?
@NickandKatieMTB
@NickandKatieMTB 6 месяцев назад
In my personal opinion I think the bar will be plenty strong and could withstand the weight of several hundred pounds. Katie and I both hung on it which would be roughly 300 pounds. I cannot say for certain what the limit would be. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
