I truly love how a fixing up a corner I didn't know what to do with inspired me to tackle this whole party pad renovation before my ladies come out for a wild woman reunion! Happy Friday humans - I hope you have an incredible weekend xx.
Have you had the idea yet, you know to collect & reuse (or use?) all of your grey water? That's your shower, sink, washer & dishwasher drainage for gardening purposes. If you do, _PRETTY PLEASE_ show us what you do & how you set it all up. I am _always_ looking for great ideas to use myself & with my clients. Thanks! XO 😘💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 ps. Excuse me, did you say _Horse?_ Where's _our_ introduction to your newest baby, miss lady? 😂😂 pss. Got any PRO tips on working in the BLEEPING heat? 😎 If you'd like some ideas for yourself, maybe you could please ask your amazing subs here to post them in a comment section? Maybe, on a short video of you showing us something that you find helps? Just to get the ball rolling. LOVE YOU STAY SAFE! 🍀👍 EDIT: OMG I am _so_ sorry! I reread my comment, I didn't mean to sound so ungrateful towards all your gals hard work! Your garden is beautiful! Just wait until you taste YOUR food that YOU grew. Thank you for the inspiration. Hugs!
Marigolds are great flowers to grow in the desert and the smell which is spicy keeps the bugs away from plants and you can harvest their seeds for the next year
This is so lovely. It gives me desert witch vibes and witchy women are always the best. I mean that as a term of endearment and celebration of strong, beautiful women, just like you and your girls. Thank you for the video. It is inspiring🥂🏵🌼🌸🌹❤
These projects are always so genius. I don’t know where you come up with them but I’m always amazed. Women can do anything once we believe we can. That hardware cloth is great but no, it’s not sturdy enough but I love the idea. Growing things is always my favorite. When I lived on a property there I had a huge garden. I would spend my mornings with my toes buried in the dirt while the sun came up.
I love the reclaimed lumber I wish I was that lucky to have left over wood to build with just in my yard. I just build three triangle garden beds myself and I love them.
If you ever want to attempt corn or squash try out the 3 sister's growing method. The Hopi I believe are the people that developed it but it's companion planting. Corn, beans, and squash all grown right next to each other. Corn provides something to climb for the beans, the beans add in nitrogen into the soil, and the squash shades out weeds and prevent as much evaporation.
I have no idea how I missed this one. But I LOVE it!! Wow!! So inspiring! It's crazy but the more you cook, the more you want to garden, I've noticed. It's almost like you going back to the roots of what goes into your body and I just love it!! Thanks Metz, You Rock!
Love this!!! It turned out beautiful. I'm a gardener, a cook/ baker and a food preserver ❤️ I have two large in ground veggie gardens, a hugelkultur mound, 3 raised garden beds, an herb garden , a tea garden, a container garden on my back deck , grape vines and a berry garden with blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, currants, gooseberries and ground cherries. I've also planted two pear trees, two cherry trees,a mulberry tree and two hazelnut trees this year.
I love this triangle planter! Definitely feel inspired to try something like this maybe next year. I hope your ac and plumbing are fixed soon, that sounds like a nightmare.
Would love to see you looking into water storage solutions and composting (incl. toilets) + Bokashi (to make your own fertilizer). Would a biogas tank be an option in this environment? Edit: Do you plan on adding solar panels?
Lovely little spot - but I just kept thinking that electircal box better be waterproofed. I want you creative, capable women around for a long time to come - purely selfish reasons as y'all inspire me to pick up a drill/use a tool I'm pretty unsure of how to use every once and a while ;-)
I loved seeing this!! I also am a believer in getting little things done to help motivate you to get other things finished. I think Macenna calls it pretty progress? So true lol. This is seriously so inspiring, I love seeing what you create!!
Loved this build, it looks amazing. But it brought a concern or a heads up. The wood from railways can be toxic. My dad told me about it ages ago (cuz we removed them from our yard, in Sweden). So might be good to just double check what chemicals are used on old railway wood in USA.
the kitchen looks so good. I have a suggestion. You could get one of those portable canopies to put up in your driveway for shad. Also what about wood glue for drawer fronts. I enjoy your channel very much.
Great inspiring project 👏 👍, think you'd benefit by getting some mulch down to help keep the water from evaporating to quickly out there in the desert, straw would be great if you've a horse now, then you'll have that anyway but even rocks could help on the lower section or even gravel,( but not in the beds we're you might grow rooted vegetables such as carrots because they'll grow very wonky). Looking forward to your next video and hope you get your plumbing in the house sorted soon, how are the dogs fairing in this heat your having ? Xx
Very cute. I do have thoughts on using weed cloth...coming from the view of a Master Gardener/Landscape Designer (Associates degree 1989). Weed block should only be used under pavers/rocked areas. It does help keep weeds down BUT not entirely because dirt/dust will eventually blow in along with weed seeds and you will get weeds. My biggest reason to object to it though is you are blocking beneficial bugs and worms from doing their job of eating, pooping and aerating the soil beneath your beds. Rather than tearing it all apart I would pull it away from the sides to give them a pathway to get in and then just not use it again in that application. Good idea on the chicken wire though. There is a really great book called Right Plant,Right Place that discusses shade/sun exposure, soil type, water situations and eventual plant size...all things to consider when making a landscape. Thoroughly enjoy your show just hate to see you doing things that may not work as well you think they may.
Love you too much to let you hurt your health with the creosote in railroad ties for edibles. I'm stuck with some by my driveway as erosion control but please be safe use for flowers/non edibles -leaches bad carcinogens. Reclaimed lumber redwood /cedar is awesome if you sand off the chemical stains raw wood is safest. I use 1/4 hardware cloth for the gophers in my raised beds. It solves everything. Grow all the love and flowers and food you dream of...
Hi, I want want to be a Debbie downer, but may I suggest you check out killer compost by Joegardener, it contained horse manure. Having said this, how fun! I'm growing a food forest in my front yard with free stuff too.
Check out Growing in the Garden youtube channel. She is a mater gardener who lives in Mesa Az so grows in the heat. She has a ton of info about what kinds of things grow good i the heat, mulching to help keep the soil from drying out so fast and all kinds of other tips for gardening n the hot summer
That bottom tier is for pest repellent! I learned this after and have made the adjustments. I can't wait to share via stories and community post tomorrow xx.
Every time I see Rachel DIY in her thong bikini, I am like, Woah, and crack up at my reaction. I get it... it's desert out there and hella hot... but my eyes aren't usually up for all that at 6am. LOL.
In Germany many people use Euro plattes to grow their kitchen spices. They use them as a kind of shelf. Perhaps you might like that too. Here is photo: www.tedox.de/media/blog/europalette-blumenregal-balkonpflanzen.jpg
