Like pushed out to the left or right of the 2x4? Knowing how I shoot, probably wouldn’t help protect the 2x4 haha. But that’s a good suggestion. You could put a cross beam to do that, or would need to look and see if there is like an L bracket type of thing you can use for it. I’ll look into it and see if I can optimize it for my next one. Oh I see what you mean now. So the first board I put at 9.5” to center of your 17” board and then the 2nd one I used a piece of 2x4 to measure where it went, but it should be 9.5” from the other side of the 24” board , or 3.5” from the edge of the first 17” board you screwed in. Does that make sense? I just used the 2x4 I was going to slide in and didn’t measure the 2nd board so I could get a tight fit
