No matter what you call them, these screw locks, bait keeper or soft plastic bait springs can make your fishing better.
This is one of those very simple DIYs that can save you some money - not too difficult to do with some materials and tools that you might already have.
It is a very easy way to make your fishing with soft plastics easy and in some instances, weedless.
I use #7 wire, but you can use slightly thicker wire. The most important thing to remember is to tailor your spiral size to the size of the soft plastics you will be using, to rig bigger soft plastics, use bigger spirals - I find the 600lb or so wire I use to be quite good at retaining grip on even big soft plastics.
This Screw Lock can be used in both saltwater and freshwater, I use them for the salt, but the design of this is actually from bass fishing. So you bass guys can do this in the winter months to help you get over cabin fever if you can't go out. Anyway, I hope you guys find this useful - it is very easy and with a few hours of work, you would have enough of these to get you through a season or two!

Very nice. What would you recommend to do to make a wire form like a wb400? Thanks

Good effort but your application is terrible. Thread an EWG hooks eye up the coils and you'll have a weedless setup that'll catch more fish and present the bait much better.

I would very much like to see a video of what you are talking about. From what I have experienced there are different applications for different things - it might not be for you, but it would be what others are looking for - different situations call for different things. I am merely showing what is possible, not asking people to follow it as the bible.
