I love the irony of our mattress arriving rolled and crunched into a little box yet it’s supposedly not strong enough for slats. 😢

You just turned your $200 bed into a $400 bed with the way prices of wood is going these days. UPGRADE. 😂 Good job mate. Hope it’s still working out.

So what do you suggest me do I need to place sheet over the slats because I own a mattress not a memory foam. As far as the sagging issue, I don't think I would be worry about that much and I normally flip my mattress once in a month to keep it in a good shape.

@@gameotic1 You would either need to get a box spring for the mattress or flip it monthly like you said. I wouldn’t put it on plywood as it needs to breathe.

If it can ruin a regular mattress, what can i use to put on top of the slates. My lower back is hurting every morning. Ugh.

@@melindahernandez8778 lf you have a regular mattress on slats the only suggestion l have is to use a box spring under the mattress instead of slats as a box spring allows airflow through. Hope this helps!

Why 2 pieces? Why not 1? It seems logical 1 solid piece would have greater structure stability? Maybe It doesn't matter, or I'm over thinking it maybe? Great video as well.

Thanks, the area is bigger than 4x8 which is a standard sheet of plywood so l had to get 2 as it’s a king size bed.

Hi Jensen, what about the gap at the end of the frame? Is that gap okay if you are putting a memory foam mattress? I have a pretty thin mattress.....
@JENSENDIY
@JENSENDIY 5 месяцев назад
The gap at the end of my frame is under 3 inches & it was because l didn’t want to notch around the frames legs, you don’t have to leave a gap if you cut the plywood a bit bigger and notch the corners.

looks good. only need some consideration for ventilation. Mould and mattresses is not a good combination.

How is it getting on? Pro and cons. Did you notice any presence of mould under the mattress? Thickness of the board? Have you pretreat the plywood? Thanks.
@JENSENDIY
@JENSENDIY Год назад
The plywood is holding up very well. No mold whatsoever under mattress. No treatment on plywood, I bought the sanded pine plywood. Sometimes the bed creaks a bit when getting up which may be prevented by using a heavier thicker plywood than the 3/8" I used. Thanks for watching!

Does the matress feel like sagging any area ? Is 3/8' good enough for soft matress ?

Can one do thus without the screws? Or needed?
@JENSENDIY
@JENSENDIY Год назад
You could do this without the screws as long as the plywood is supported well on all edges and corners. You may want to use thicker plywood though to prevent noise.

For a regular mattress l agree but for a memory foam mattress I have had no issues at all having it on the platform.

I have a memory foam mattresses as well but the ikea frame came with curved slats. I am thinking to lay plywood over.

Wouldn’t it be better to put a few holes in it with a hole saw to encourage airflow?
@JENSENDIY
@JENSENDIY 5 месяцев назад
Yes you could do that but the memory foam doesn’t need airflow like a standard mattress. I did this 1/2 a year ago & the underside of the memory foam still looks new.
