DIY Slot Car Track - A Race Track Needs Barriers! - EP7 [HK Apocalypse]

Before I can start racing on my scratchbuild DIY slot car track it needs barriers to prevent the cars from falling over the edge. So in this episode I'm 3d printing, painting and mounting a huge amount of barriers on the track. And to make it all even more awesome I'm building some small lampposts around the whole race track.
Follow me as I scratch building a Mad Max / Borderlands / Terminator inspired slot car track. This project features all of the classical hobby elements and fast race cars, what's not to like :). I hope that this project inspires you all and that you enjoy the video.

I like the crashed plane, I would keep it. I think it still fits the overall theme -- if you blend it into the scenery by making it look like it crashed a long time ago -- it works

Thank you for the feedback, really appreciate it. I am reconsidering the plane, I think you are right that it would look really good if it was blended more into the scenery. So I'm going to work on the rest of the scenery for now and then return to the plane afterwards. It's also easier to get an idea about how it will look when the rest is finished. This is turning out soooo cool! :D I know you're not making a scene for a Hollywood movie, but 2 things immediately came to mind for the scenery... Flickering flames/fires (especially for the plane or other areas) ... and some radioactive waste drums, with one tipped over with glowing green liquid pooled up. If you decide to remove the plane, that could be a radioactive waste dump as an option. And I hate to ask this when you've come so far with this track... but are both lanes equal length? If you're going to race and count the laps, one lane might have a distinct advantage :/ Keep up the awesome work! You have some awesome skills!

Thank you for your feedback. I have actually done some flickering fires in another project so it should be fairly straight forward adding it to this track (Great idea). The waste drums are a really great idea, I'll look into it right after Le Mans (pretty busy this weekend :) ). Both lanes are just slightly off each other in length, but when we race the software make sure that all drivers compete against each other on both tracks. This equals out the difference and gives us a fair contest. But you are absolutly right it could have been a major problem :) We often have some one off events where we race for the fastest lap and here we usually find out that one of the lanes are a bit faster than the other, this is not always the shortest lane though as the longest track sometimes have more speed through some of the turns (this was the case with my first slot car track). It took so long painting those :D, and I'm on a tight scheduel :) Need this track for a championship race in 5 days :D So cool that one of my videos inspired you to do a fallout diorama, really love fallout. I'll make sure to check your project out :) Well if we ever get the opportunity I'm sure that we can make a cool combined project someday in the future :) 😎
