This is how I would do it.. Some people take the strip's and tied them in a knot n popped the knot threw the holes.. Some also cut them a little shorter.. I know my cat will love one because he loves hiding little toys and ball's under my shaggy bathroom rug's, messing them up all over the bathroom so I'm really hoping he'll love this thing... 🤗✌️

Does 2 yards make one square then or 6?

This is brilliant! I'm definitely going to make one for our rescue. Any tips on how to wash it though please?

if you make it with fleece you can throw it right into the wash machine and I would just let it dry flat on a rack

I have seen some made with a kitchen sink mat. However, I am wondering if maybe the utility map might be more durable than the kitchen sink mat, especially when it's a puppy. However, is it harder for the puppy to get to a snack if it falls through one of the holes? Any thoughts on which mat is better for a puppy, especially one that is chewing on everything? Thank you and I appreciate the various techniques you offer and that you really explain and show each of these techniques.

Connie L. I think this is less likely to rip over time but I would say do whatever is easiest for you to source! If the treats fall through then when you pick up the mat you have a bonus at the end for your pup! When it comes to durability, I would be more concerned with washability than whether the dog will chew it and would recommend fleece over felt for that reason. My opinion on the snuffle mat is that it’s not something to leave the dog alone with as the fabric will never be safe for them to get peices off and ingest. If you watch my next video you can see how I worked some impulse control exercises into my Rottweiler’s interaction with the mat to make sure that I could get him to wait patiently for it so he started his interaction with it calmly and then to leave it alone if I felt he might start getting destructive. To my surprise though, he was quiet gentle with it and figure out quickly to shift the fabric around to get his treats rather than destroy it. Hope that answers your question!

Is this washable though? I think the pvc cannot be machine washed

I put it through on a light cycle and then lay flat to air dry and it seems ok. I don’t think it would do well in the dryer

@puppypowerdogtraining-boar2265
I bought mine for Lowe’s it’s a utility mat/anti fatigue mat cut into smaller sections :)

Can you use strips from old t-shirts instead of fleece?
@puppypowerdogtraining-boar2265
I'm sure you could but just really watch your dog doesn't get strings off it. Snuffle mats are meant to be used under supervision anyways :)

That utuily mat is expensive understandable though considering the size. Unfourtanelty the alternative to this was sold out

I used a sink mat from the dollar store. Worked great.
