The split loop connector is a 'Cotter Key'.

I was thinking of this for a workbench for woodworking/etc. Do you think these legs are sturdy enough for heavy duty use? Best wishes in your health issues.

@TheOffGridFamily Год назад
That's a great question! There is a small side to side wobble horizontally due to me not putting the center bar high enough but its not enough of an issue to change anything. I would say you could make this much more heavy duty by potentially using four legs rather than two if you're using very heavy things. You would still only need two linear actuators as they're rated for much more heavy use. Thanks for the comment and the well wishes 😊

Do you have any thoughts on instead using one actuator instead of two to lift the desk assuming that one actuator could handle the weight requirements?
@TheOffGridFamily
@TheOffGridFamily 10 месяцев назад
Most actuators have a very high weight limit however all of the designs I did using just one actuator had small issues with them. That's where I ended up going with the two actuator design. There are many ways to make either of one or two actuator standing desk but I went with the easy option. Sorry I can't be any help. That said if you ever want to email me we can talk back and forth about different ideas if you think that might be helpful

In the UK we call them split pins. What they call cotter pins in the U.S.A. are here used for securing pedals to a crank on a bicycle.

Split pin was the name I was looking for. It's not something I come across a lot in daily use. Thanks guys

How do you get two separate actuators to work together?
@TheOffGridFamily
@TheOffGridFamily 10 месяцев назад
If you wire them in parallel then they will raise and lower together

Where did you get the actuator?

I got it from eBay but it was made/sold by Vevor.

Can we use a single 6000N actuator?
@TheOffGridFamily
@TheOffGridFamily 6 месяцев назад
It all depends on what you're hoping to lift with it. By that I mean the weight of the actual tabletop the parts that have to rise up with it and the computer etc. it's not really something I can answer

@@TheOffGridFamily Lets say a top made out of 19mm plywood and just a simple computer not very heavy.. does that work?
@TheOffGridFamily
@TheOffGridFamily 6 месяцев назад
Now don't just go with what I'm about to say but yes it should do. Make sure you work out the process you are going to use before buying it. One actuator has benefits that aren't just financial like no issues with one being faster than the other etc.
