You can also put some embroidery on your mats or your altar cloths :)

Loved the video. Due to my own budget, and physical limitations, I found that scarfs works really well for a tarot reading cloth. I went to a thrift store and found a few scarves that felt the right way to me. The bigger scarves I fold in half, and I have enough space for everything I use in tarot reading. Also scarves are perfect for an alter cloth. Not trying to put down the video, just another idea for a tarot reading cloth.

Thank you for atleast calling out the ironing! As someone who sews pretty regularly, I cringe everytime I see people skipping ironing on their project tutorials. If you can it makes a world of difference in the end state of your project.

Depending on the kind of fabric you want, thrift store linens are WAY cheaper than buying the same fabric by the yard.

I have wanted to make a tarot mat for a long time, even bought the materials to make a few. Then realised life's busy and bought some really heavy duty square tea towels and stenciled symbols on with ink. Got the idea after getting a really cool tea towel in a subscription box with the tarot suits on it.

It's very easy to also just get fabric you like and use that fabric! If you can't or don't want to make a mat per se. That's what I did, I just use fabric I found at joan's and didn't do anything to it. I love the part of the video where you sew with light music in the background, but I'm that kindof weirdo that loves watching lifestyle videos like cleaning and cooking with calm music. It's like an asmr for me.

When I was young and broke and didn't own an iron, I'd throw a brick in the oven on low heat for a few minutes, and then take it out and wrap a thin dish towel around it and use that!

Yay, awesome video! Question: Do you have any suggestions on a homemade pendulum mat or where I can possibly find one? I just got mine through the mail yesterday, cleansed it today but I really want a mat but thought how cool it would be to make one. The ones that have yes/no/maybe written on them, etc. Anywho, I am definitely going to make this for my tarot cards as right now I have them just wrapped in some beautiful lace. I didn't even know that tarot mats were a thing.

For those who want a no-sew option: Fabric or hot melt glue. Just be aware if you use hot melt glue it cannot be ironed, washed in hot water, or tumble dried since, y'know, it melts when it gets hot. 😉 Or if you don't want to DIY anything at all, you can do what I do, and just use an old flannel pillow case.
