Enjoyed this. Thank you and was fun! Haven't seen your wife's channel. You came up when I was looking up "sewer maiden tarot" and when I saw you were going to sew, I popped over! I learned a lot, chalk, refillable, and I like that.

Me. I don’t know who she is. Your video just showed up in my feed. I saw Tarot cloth and I was like, “ yes please!” But now I have to go check out her channel because you suggested it.

Thanks! It’s been years since I’ve sewn and this was very helpful. Those small details make all the difference. I love the stitch you used to finish with 💜

Wow, it looks so easy and yet so hard to do when you're a beginner. I love the fabric, I wish I lived in Canada to get one. Thank you for the explanations Peggy !

That fabric is gorgeous. And you talking about how the seam allowance may cause your fabric to just flat not move when turning corners made me stop and facepalm because it makes so much sense.

Love love love how you deliver encouragement and detailed information by baby stepping the viewer through the process. I would be interested in knowing what your go-to tools are. I’ve been sewing clothes forever, but recently moved over to quilting which is a whole different game.

Have you ever tried the fabric clips? I feel like they make the fabric pucker less than regular pins

Im horrible at directions. I hope u dont mind that i write this just to double-check that i am understanding things right. -- Add 3" to 15" = 18"x18" -- Iron pretty sides together -- Mark 18 & 1/2 inches -- Mark your 15" lines -- Leave 3" slit on upper side, staying away from the corners. -- Pin corners, GENTLY smoothing fabiric often as you finish pinning. -------> Start sewing on 15" lines, removing pins as you go. -- Trim any tails -- Trim to quarter inch line (or what you're comfy with) FROM the sewn line. -- Trim corners -- Turn right side out -- Press opening ------> sew, starting about an inch above open slit, staying close to edge. -- Continue to end.
@peggysews
@peggysews Год назад
I'm not sure what you mean by mark 18 1/2 inches (line 3)? Once I decide what size I want a reading cloth to be - ay dimensions - I cut about 3" more than what I need and then mark the cloth. If you're looking for 15x15 inch cloth then everything else that you wrote is right.

Why didn’t you sew the backstitches?
@peggysews
@peggysews 2 года назад
You can backstitch, but I feel like this leaves a cleaner look. Everything is locked down just like with backstitching, because the threads will go over each other so it's not a necessary step for a project like this.
@ladymoonbone
@ladymoonbone 2 года назад
@@peggysews Thank you for explaining that; I’ll definitely have to try it your way! I always backstitch and more often than I would like, the fabric goes crooked and the sewing lines isn’t straight or perfectly lined up with each other anymore. Also I personally leave extra fabric at the turn hole, I’m not sure how best to describe it, but I call it a turn tab. I can’t sew super close to the edge of the fabric so I leave extra material at the turn hole so I know my top stitch with catch the extra fabric and keep it closed.
@ppapez
@ppapez 2 года назад
@@ladymoonbone I know exactly what you mean for the turn hole. Lots of people do it that way. I still do that for some projects.
