One of the best ways to cut kaizen foam for a tight custom fit for a firearm or tool is to use a exacto knife and adjustable scalpel knife. This video demonstrates how to remove the layers of 1/8 kaizen foam in order to obtain a great fit with out using a CNC laser or using an electric carving knife.
If you plan on using a hot tool to cut or smooth out the foam. Make sure you are in a well ventilated area. Fumes can be harmful.
