I have been binge watching tombstone prop videos today, and I like your design the best. We have a lot of strong winds where we are, so those flimsy insulation foam board tombstones are useless to me. Also, I loved the bases you put on yours, it just completed them and made them look so real. I made some wooden tombstones about 18 years ago with my kids, and we doubled up the plywood too, but we actually used "bendy board" or whatever it's called and made the tombstones about 4 inches thick (hollow inside) bending the board around the curves of the tombstones. This obviously would not work with intricate designs, but we just had simple rounded out tops on ours. Thank you for sharing your creativity.

Thank you for watching. I do have to tell you these three tombstones did blow over when I first put them out. I screwed in an eye ring screw in the back of the base and ran a heavy-duty camping stake through it. They didn't budge after that.

Those look great! I did plywood foam hybrid. Even though my wood was coated in drylock I still had issues. I stipped them down and did fiberglass resin and then drylock. I glued a layer fo foam and carved my names in dates in those.

Lee, Cushing and price. Wow! Now they made some fantastic horror films. That was a great idea to put their names on. Great job, they look great. Did you watch that midnight hour, or are you saving it for Halloween? It's definitely a Halloween film as they literally have a Halloween party in the film.😂👍

I’m going to make a bunch of these with the wall paneling that’s coming out of our den. Because it’s thinner than plywood, I’m not sure the base you made would work. Do you have any recommendations for how to secure these in the ground? Thanks!

PVC and Rebar works real well. I used them on all our static clown props last year in our Carnevil and they didn't move at all. If the tombstones are light you might be able to get away with some of those green garden stakes.

Found my weekend project! Suggestions on the type of paint to use for they grey/white? Was it all spray paint?

You can use any kind of paint. If your going to be doing a lot of tombstones, go to your local Home Depot and check out their OOPs section behind the paint desk. They always have shades of gray and it's like 70-80% off. I also use paints I buy at Walmart or Michaels.

I think the bit is called the round carving bit. It might be #192. I have a hard time finding them anymore.

Great Video. What Dremel bit did you use for the carving? Also, how did you secure the stone to the base?

I think the bit is the round carving bit. It might be #192. I have a hard time finding them anymore. I just used 3 inch screws to secure the stone to the base.

@@OneTrueHeart13 I just used a gray paint I found in the OPPS section in Home depot. You can use anything really. Some people use gray drylock paint to give it some more protection. However, I usually use Apple Barrel paint you get at Walmart or Michaels. I did do a second video on how I painted these if you wanted to check that out.
