I just visited my first pagan pride festival last week and I found this gorgeous tarot card bag that I had my eye on, but sadly could not afford. not 2 days later, I am still thinking about the bag and suddenly this shining light appears with an easy and creative diy for tarot bags and mats. I just started watching your vids last night I stayed up till 4 in the morning I've tried watching other witches but you are the only one that speaks fluently and calm instead of rough and saying things like you have to have this or that to be a witch I love your vids and I've started drawing sigils everywhere now my mom is a bit concerned 💜🏳️‍🌈💜

And just as she don't have to believe in witchcraft or "supernatural" things, you don't have to follow her believes and be a Christian. Also, I'm not going to tell you what to do with that, but I have seen several Christian witches on internet, so you can be both 💖

if you handstitch, I have so much admiration & respect for you. I used to handstitch my clothes back together as a teenager because I hated buying new clothes and my goodness was it a whole different ballgame EDIT: your voice is so nice to listen to. I had to replay a few parts and you just speak so softly it's nice to listen to

I would highly recommend top stitching around the edges of the mat once its all turned out - it helps keep the seams from shifting around, and will close up the little gap in the end. Love this idea!

If you are trying to hide it from people inside your home, i would suggest a fake book box or make it look more like a craft kit with projects on top. As pretty much anything under the bed is looked at suspiciously (if its not garbage)

Also a tip with woven cottons. If you make a small cut then tear the fabric it will make perfect straight lines.

Amazing idea I must say I'm tempted to do one as soon I have the time to do so . The only thing I would add to this you can add fusible fabric to avoid bagginess but that simply pushing the concept. Now I will have to see what fabric I have left at home and can convert to this

If you don’t have a sewing machine or sewing skills, fusible interface would work really well for a no sew option. A couple of buttons and a small elastic hair tie could be a great modification as well. Thank you so much for the inspiration! I ❤️it!

I have a smaller deck (regular playing card size) and I found that using a bandana works really well. The size of the cards lines up with the design on the bandana which is satisfying when placing them.

You could also do a top stitch around the border with a decorative stitch (that come with some machines) or even embroidery on the corners

I’ve been making these for fun and I also think it would be cool to sell them at my local witchy shop that accepts artisan goods and will sell them for you. But the few I’ve made are 17x20-ish inches. Which I think are huge but I made them huge because my main tarot deck is big and lives in its box while wrapped in the mat. So I was wondering, hypothetically, if anyone were to go buy a tarot mat what would be your preferred size? Ans how would you store your decks with them? In the box or naked in the mat?

I have a small pillowcase that has the ouija board design that Ive been using as a tarot bag cuz it zips. A friend ended up making me one cuz it was freaking my friends out that i was carrying around a ouija "board" 😂😂😂😂

That Weirdo Hamilton Fan you might have more items for your altar than you think! Try using natural items to represent the elements or season. Shells for water, feathers for air, a lava rock for fire, an interesting root or found stone for earth. Since it’s Samhain, you might have items from family that you can include to bless your space and remember them. Check the dollar store or second hand store too, just make sure to cleanse your items. You don’t have to spend a lot to find items to make a really magical altar, just keep your eyes and heart open. Look at Olivia’s excellent example, her first witchy video was moon water, which is a free ingredient, and she crafts cool magical wall hangings from natural branches. Blessings on your magical path!

My little alter consists of wood Incense holder, empty glass candle🕯 that holds the incense, tea light candles that i burn daily, a few stones . All these little items are on a wood plank that’s on top of my plastic dresser drawer from Walmart lol that holds my sage , palo santo and mini variety of tea light candles White, green, red ,cream color. Easy set for meditation 🧘‍♀️

I was finally able to make one of these! I forgot to pick up a ribbon to do the closure, so I used a price of the scrap fabric and it’s perfect because it’s a lil stretchy! I used satin for the “inside” (that the cards will sit on).

I use chopsticks for my corners. :) Why not leave the opening for the turn right side out at location where the ribbon is inserted, then after you can tuck in the fabric inward , insert the ribbon outward, and sewing over the ribbon instead of an off opening.

Have you considered outlining your favourite spreads on the fabric? Like card outlines with maybe 1,2,3 or past, present,future etc on the inside of the cards outlines too, to show the cards drawing order and or meaning. If (like me) you forget what the spreads layouts are and their meanings you could outline multiple different layouts overlapping, using different colours to distinguish between them. That way if you usually use your groimoire to remember the layouts, you don't need to bring the big book with you when you travel to be able to remember your spreads. Or you could just remember them yourself, I can't I have such a bad memory, at least tarot cards have pictures to help me to remember their meanings.
