DIY Turtle Basking Platform Idea

Hey Everyone! It's been a while since I upload a video of the turtle tank update, and today I am going to show you how I made the basking platform.
It is quite simple actually, I tie the bamboo sticks together like a miniature bamboo raft, and glue it to make sure it won't slip out. By making a miniature bamboo raft, the basking area is actually ready to be used. But I attached 2 suction caps to stick it to the side of the tank, so it won't float around when my turtles crawl on it. Be sure to clean it every once in a while too guys!

Garden store would have them. Depending on where you live, you might find them Lowes, Rona, and Home Depot at the garden centre.

Loved the idea and did one for my aquarium, but not sure why they have difficulties in climbing, always falling down lol... need to figure a way so they can easily climb.

Awesome! For the light, I'm using UVA UVB Mercury Vapor Bulb (so it's UVA UVB in 1 bulb), turning it on every morning when I wake up and turning it off around 6PM 😁

It depends on the suction cup bro! My turtles are bigger now and now I'm using 4 bigger suction cups! 😆

Will it be hazardous for the turtle(or fish or the whole aqua life) if I spray the bamboo with silicon spray? So that it will last longer

Honestly I don't really know bro, but I wouldn't recommend 'cause these bamboos has been here for almost 4 months, and are still good as new! Regular brushing is all that you need 😁

I think this is only gonna support tiny turtles. I made a similar thing for my turtles . My turtles are bigger .

Interesting. I saw you have red eye slider turtle in same tank with gold fish. I have a red eye slider and wish to put in my garden pond with koi but many say I can't as turtle will eat the fish.

yes, and they still do until now! But I do consider separating them when my turtles are bigger

@@PawtyTime So better U do not put them together?? My turtle is already 4 inch though the koi are 6 inch. Don't want any of them to get eaten. And I did the pond for both the fish and the turtle..........I never imagined a so slow turtle can even bite a fast fish especially bigger than the turtle. I try to think how I can separate them in same pond.

@@PawtyTime Sorry again to ask............My pond is 150 x 150 cms and has 90cms depth. Re depth do you think its ok for the turtle with just a platform floating for basking? It will manage to go up on it? Thanks again.

4 inch, I don't think he could harm the Koi at this moment, but later on I would suggest separating them 😆. And yes you're right, they might be slow on land, but they're pretty fast in the water 😂

Could make a side bar for it, just make two pair of the bamboo sticks longer with a gap between then add a smooth stick between. Just need to figure out how to make the stick stand or stay still against the walls.
