I got one of these for my ybs. I haven’t seen him bask in it very much but he loves the little platform and spends a ton of time hanging out on it.

I would like to add some notes to your video. I have this topper and Amazon sells the optional clips needed to put this on a 40 gallon breeder tank. Also be very careful if your clamping the lights on the outer areas of the lid. The lid is sloped and the lights can slip off if you lift the lid and the light(s) could end up in the tank. The inner elevated areas next to the grid are more vertical and the lights grip it better. I later bought the twin dome with a 50 watt and a 5.0 UVB bulb which is sitting directly on the lid and has not melted the lid. Higher wattages might. I ended up making a larger basking area with egg crate which allows you to custom it to your tank and turtle size.

We have this and we really have to add water often so he can get up there. We cut my tanks lid to fit still, and I turned it around to avoid any rough edges. I really wish they would extend the platform to be further into the water.

What UVB bulb did you use for this distance?

I love this thing my turtle was hesitant on the first day but she did sometimes sleep on the underwater platform after that she started basking

I thought about getting one and trying to make it fit my 75gal, but that led me to your diy topper which I just finished my own.

I have mine on a 125 gallon, it could be better modified to fit but it “works” if you just put some glass under one end. My big turtle struggles to get up there, I’ve seen modifications using outdoor carpet on the ramp to help turtles crawl up.

will this take up more than half of my tank? my 10 gallon tank is 10 inches wide and 20 inches wide

I was looking into this but seems like it's a great idea but not that well executed ...maybe if they added some thing to the suction cup legs to make it adaptable. I'm currently looking a way to make a new basking area for my 2 RES on their 70 gal tank, since their platform broke. My problem is that the tank is old and the glass not so thick (only 6mm) so i'm afraid of filling it full then adding something above and have it break in a couple weeks. Any ideas appreciated.

I have used this topper for quite a few years, the earlier model didn’t have the side support for the ramp so once my turtle reached a certain weight the ramp was broken. The newer model fixed that problem. However, I’m still having issue with that underwater platform: the clip to fill the space by that hook is too loose and when turtle moves around the on the basking platform the clip also gets pushed out of that hole, then the hook becomes loose. When turtle is moves around the underwater platform the hook may fall off. It happens quite a few times. To solve the problem I simply used gorilla tape to affix the hook on the basking platform.

there are extenders to modify it to fit bigger tanks. I have it on my 40b and my turtles use it all the time

Hey LLYT! I know this is a little late, but I was about to purchase this and it says that it's compatible up to a width of 13 inches, that seems really small, is this true?

There’s 33 long that is 4 foot like the 55 gallon just a lot shorter.

Actually guys it’s not the best product I have one they outgrew them ! And the ramp is made out of plastic that bends and rips apart I had to drill it which is inconvenient. If ramp would of been longer and more durable strong then I would suggest but it’s not you will be wasting money try a branch or something to help them climb out of tank

Get a bigger tank. Each of your turtles are 6+ inches, and the rule of thumb is 1 nch of shell = 10 gallons. You can find cheap 300 gallon tubs at a local hardware store.

Spent way too long talking about aquarium size and had nothing to do w/ topper

so $33 in brutish pounds is approx £23... this tacky plastic box by pen plax is selling for £75 on amazon UK !!! approx $90 !! no way no thanks....the thrive elevated basking loft is so much better in every way BUT no where in the UK sells basking toppers, they sell useless floating platforms.....thank god the UK has now banned the sale of terrapins, the care and pet supplies over here are dismal including the reptile traders. many many people release them into lakes and ponds which is upsetting as food source is hit and miss plus the cold weather and very short summers. many people still have terrapins but u cant buy, sell or breed them. i have a yellow bellied slider, 15years old, made a glass tank top basking area but now want to use that to connect him to a tank next to his (both 250l) .. now just need another basking area, no equipment so would rather buy but cannot find anything here.....so badly want the thrift elevated basking topper 🤬🤬🤬🤬
