I have one for my 2012 Accord and it made a huge difference in sound. At stock it sounds like a sewing machine but with the intake it actually sounds deep and throaty. I noticed no performance increase though. I got this purely for sound.
@@fernandobueno8776Depends on whether you have a 8th gen (08-12) or 9th gen (13-17) Honda Accord I4 (2.4L). The parts on both are similar, but are usually not directly interchangeable (at least from my experience).
Thanks for the video!!!!!!! It was perfect. Perfect camera angles, clarity, detailed, no audio issues and straight to the point. I wish people would watch your tutorial videos before making their own tutorial videos and posting them on RU-vid 😂😂
Thanks you so much bud!!!! Your video was perfect and with exact measurements and procedure. Worked like a charm and it was great. Thanks for doing this and helping others. Appreciate it greatly.
i use the drop in filter,i can feel the throttle response improved and gear change become smoother, the momentary bump between gear change became less noticeable
@@killingmastaonestly, if you’re looking for power gains in the long run and you live in a hotter climate area, you’re better off sticking to a full CAI (cold air intake) that is actually heat wrapped (usually with gold intake wrap). A cheaper, more common way to avoid heatsoak (most successfully), would be to run a high flow air filter (K&N, aFe, Takeda, AEM) to the stock air box. You can even option to swap out the stock airbox hosing/piping for some upgraded silicone hosing (HPS). This will delete the extra resonance chambers and baffling from the OEM intake hosing/piping, which will give you a bit of air induction sound, although not a ton like a legitimate aftermarket intake system (with an exposed air filter element). You can delete the stock intake resonator chamber if you’d like, but in my case, I decided to keep it, as it was connected to the front grille shroud by the top of the hood (when closed). The stock air intake shroud is already technically as legitimate as a “cold air intake” would be, not to mention it’s from the factory (R&D knows what they’re doing [usually]!).
According to the website for K&N and even Amazon, it's listed as "Exc. LEV2 SULEV Test Group EHNXV03.5SC3; California Air Resources Board Exempt: Yes; CARB EO: D-269-39; 69 Series - Metal Intake Kit for Sport Compact & Sports Car; Silver (CA)" for my V6 yet it won't ship to my CA. address? That's weird!! Sure would love to have this in my 2014 Honda Accord Sedan EXL V6. I've already got a Borla Type S and this would match perfectly!! Thanks for sharing the installation video and sound clip for your car.
Thanks for the info Jeff. Clear video on how to install it. Just checked the price. Wow, a little expensive for some tubing and a filter. No filter will last a lifetime. Performance will be reduced over time. Even after cleaning.
David Hughes Yes, these can get costly. that is why I haven't purchased it until now. I've been spending $20 each year on a new filter. so I'm hoping with the annual cleaning, this will last at least a few years until I get that lexus.
David Hughes also... with car parts.. I think of them as a saving account.. when I'm done with it, I can always resell it used and get most of the money back. I've sold used intakes for $100+ without any problem with multiple offers
Really good video, probably one of the more straightforward approaches. One question though, do you see any benefit to removing the rest of the stock snorkel system? Since it was designed to feed cold air from the front of the engine bay it seems it would provide some benefit leaving it. Another video mentioned removing it to improve airflow, but that seems counter intuitive to me.
Love your videos. Do you plan on getting the Lexus style aftermarket tailights anytime soon? Waiting for you to get those before I pull the trigger on one of those lol. Or do you have any brands you would recommend? I have an sedan btw
I noticed that the 1.5" cut piece where the crankcase vent goes in is kinda loose from the tube part so I used the clamp from the stock and its nice and tight now
nice tutorial! I wish I'd have seen a video like this when I installed mine 3 years ago on my 2013 accord sport. I probably don't have to clean mine yet but how do you recommend to clean the air filter?
I have 2017 Accord sport 4 cylinder it seems as if with wanting to hear the noise the desire of such you would burn more gas mileage than you would without it I'm thinking about putting on mine but if it doesn't give me any gas mileage increase and just for performance I doubt I would do it because I don't have any money to waste and when I do I would do it for sound and performance but gas is crazy in the Illinois right now so no but thank you for the video God bless
Great video as always. I'm looking for a short ram intake for my Civic and was glad to see you install yours to get an idea on the process. I would like to know if you received any error lights and do you plan on keeping it installed.
rsilinnyc no errors. I've read a few people experience error lights but the problem was because they didn't reconnect the map sensor. I plan on keeping it until I no longer own this veichle.
There is a video that I saw, that I just can't find again, where a guy removed the entire air channel box that runs from the grill underneath to the intake. He said only then will you actually get hp increase and crazy down low torque.
Did you notice any difference in hrspr? Lag when stepping on gas? Gas range? Heat soak? I purchased on and wrapped it and the shield but haven’t installed. Please help 😅
One thing that I do not understand about this video/cold air intake is the car is designed by factory to take in air through a tube that leads to the front of the hood/car. At 6:46 you can see that the air filter is not connected to the actual factory air intake tube... can someone explain to me if this is meant to be designed that way on purpose? It just seems fishy or odd to me that the cold air intake doesn't hook directly up to the intake tube.
What about the open hose end (located under the new KN air filter)? It previously connected to the old stock air filter housing. Do you just leave it open? What does it do??
If the Takeda were legal, why would you get it over the K&N? Both are just replacing he airbox with less restriction, and neither do much without a custom tune. I've also heard that aftermarket intakes can actually lower your hp.
Hey , I enjoy watching your videos. They help me a bunch when it comes to installs for my sedan. Maybe you can confirm this for me, I was looking at the K&N site and these are not CARB legal, so won't pass Smog is that correct?
DIY: Car Modz do you think it will be carb legal in the future or so? Cuz I own a 2015 and I don't want to do the mod and then have to take it off and put the OEM one back on
hello, question what kind of part is the one you're holding at 5:57. I installed my k&n intake a while back but lost that tube. do you know if I could get that part from local auto parts store? if so, what part should I ask?. thanks sir. great vids btw.
Waw that's what I am talking about Thanks brother for that but my question is dose is make any difference after keeping it in the car without the dyno test what did you feel dose it deserve the money that you pay for ? Sone thing else bro. There is another company they have a great intake system as well it names takeda I saw some videos about it but am not sure about the performance but the company guarantee it gives around 20Hp
I have one on my 14 Accord Sport and its increased my mpg 1-2 mpg. I was getting a consistent 28 mpg stock and now am getting 29-30 mpg. I got 34 mpg on our trip to south Carolina last year, we are about to leave for SC again tomorrow, I'm gonna see what it gets this year with the K&N. Seems worth the investment to me just as long as you keep your foot out of it haha.
Hi, Man. I live in CA too, is this okay to install on cars? will it be trouble if get caught by police? Also, after installing this, you don't need to change the air filter any more right ?
As long as it had a CARB exempt sticker, you shouldn't have any issues when you take it in for a smog check. You have to clean the filter. They sell cleaning kits. I clean them once a year.
So do you still need the airbox that goes underneath the car? I have a 2016 Honda Accord sport V4 and it fell off... Can I just replace it with an intake like urs and just eliminating the one at the bottom?
nikom05 you probably lose power running an aftermarket intake without a tune and honestly even with a tune youre lucky if you get 1whp. If you want real gains. Look at cams downpipes header.
Hi, Jeff, I'm thinking about to get one between K&N and Takeda. Do you know which one has the better performance, or they are just different in color, that's all.
just installed this intake on my 2016 Honda Accord LX last week. A few days later a few warning lights popped on my dash. I tried to find accurate forums to fix but didn’t seem to find any luck. I tried disconnecting battery neg. for 10 min to hard reset but didn’t seem to help. any idea why? Warning lights are : TPMS problem Hill Start Problem Road Departure mitigation system problem Power Steering system problem Vehicle Stability Assist Problem
I'm planning on installing the same k&n intake . A lot of people been telling me it messes with the idle of the car . My question is does install the intake affect the car in a bad way in any way? Btw my car is a 2014 accord lx
Hey Jeff! I've been getting the "check charge system" message a lot lately. Is that because my battery cables are loose? I haven't even installed this K&N kit yet though.
Most likely it is your battery. If you have a i4 consider swapping out the battery to a v6 battery. Maxx Everstart battery is popular for the battery upgrade mod: www.driveaccord.net/forums/86-9th-generation/377026-battery-replacement-upgrade.html Swapping out the intake to the K&N intake will not cause a check charge system warning on the dash. That message only comes on when the battery is low.
